Azure_Circuit_88.trd in Tracks folder. Just noticed this in the boot files. Is this something new? Do you think we'll get a classic Monaco soon? Edit: also noticed Road atlanta and Bannochbrae :S are these just some PCars2 leftovers? So no 88 monaco?
We have to wait but one thing is certain, the Azure1988 file does not come from Project CARS. I'm hoping more for an older version of Monaco like the one from RF2. The 1988 version is of no interest to me because it looks too much like the current version (apart from a chicane and billboards). I love what Reiza does, their passion shows in the game. But I was disappointed with the first DLC of classic tracks (modification of a bend and some assets do not justify a purchase for me).
I didn't care about what year of circuit before, but now i think reiza reproducing senna's golden era. thats why most historic circuits are 1988.
For me the Monaco 1988 is totally relevant and quite different to the modern version... first corner you had a wall inside. The first corner was even more complicated back then. You also had big kerbs in the chicane after the tunnel... swimming pool section you had one wall on the outside... this section was even more difficult. The Rascasse was also a bit different. Its not big changes overall and i would also love a 1966 or 1974 version to fit older Formula 1, but this 1988 is really relevant for F Classic Gen 1 to F V10 Gen 2.
only Bannochbrae is PC content, Azure 88 makes sense for historical Track Pack 2, and Road Atlanta is for Racin USA 4. nice find. i agree, both the track and brazilian legends dlc were too expensive in hindsight. too me the old tracks always look too clean.
Road Atlanta is interesting because that fits in with what I just found... So lets read in between the lines a little. Mclaren M8B that's a 1969 Group 7 Can Am Car... 1969 Can Am visted a lot of the same track Indycar did 1995-2000 era IndyCar did Namely Mid Ohio, Michigan, Laguna Seca (PT1) Road America (PT2) Also they raced at Watkins Gen (Included in PT2) That's 5 of the 11 races nearing the 50% season threshold Reiza mentioned and bragged about in this lastest Update. If you found Road Atlanta, that would fit in pefectly with the Sports car theme, and the year theme of "Endurance" Also, Nascar once attempted the Yankee 600 in 1969 at Michigan, fitting the request for a Nascar Stock Car. (And the Yankee 400 in 70-72) Who knew we could get some American Civil War history in our AMS 2 DLC? My only worry is... We don't have Ford or Dodge which would be needed for a Nascar of that era, (as GM and Chevy had pulled out of racing for safety reasons)
There is an unofficial Ford model in the game, but unfortunately it's just a trackside Focus in the infield of Gateway.
The only one I dislike is the Supercars pack. Brazilan Legends and the track pack were kinda normal in pricing, but the Supercars pack was a rip off IMO.
Yeah that part of the season pass was never an important part to me... But it's certainly overpriced for it's value in comparison to other DLC... But then every Reiza DLC is cheap in comparison to other titles... I'd love to get Road Atlanta in the sim... That first sector is so much fun...
While a 1988 version might not be as exceptional as a 60's or 70's version, it's still a very welcome addition. The current rendition feels too modern for cars/races of 30+ years ago. I am also hoping for a early 90's version of Interlagos for the same reason
I'm FULLY sold on Monaco 1988 with the classic pits and walled Swimming Pool section. The only version of this that exists in sim racing, is the rF1(and subsequent conversions for AC) track, which is terrible.
it would be great! monaco 88 is different in more than a chicane, and it brings me back to GP1 and the time spent with my friends on amiga...
For me, it’s the whole ambience of late-80s Monaco - the sponsors, the walled Sainte Devote, the lower Armco and no wall in the tunnel, the whole Piscine section, the proper Rascasse entry, the old pits configuration and the Armco instead of concrete pit wall.
