Hi, I'm running an AMD 5800X3D but AMS2 is not using AVX. When I look at the Intel Ark site the CPU should be supported. Am I missing something?
Just curious. How is AMS2 running on your X3D? Because my next puter will probably use CPU from that series.
It runs very well, I just don't get why it's not using avx. Even if I manually start ams2avx.exe it switches to normal ams2.exe
The game queries the OS to determine available instruction sets. If the AVX exe is not being selected that suggests the instruction set is disabled by the OS or BIOS
I just checked with hwinfo64 and it shows avx and avx-2 as activated. any ideas what else could prevent ams2 from starting in avx mode?
...exactly what Dave Stephenson said. 1) BIOS settings - you're going to need to read your motherboard manual and/or check the settings, depending on how confident you are. 2) OS support - the feature can be enabled or disabled at the operating system level. If you upgraded your computer from a non AVX processor, to the new one supporting AVX and didn't reinstall the OS, then it's likely disabled. Have a read of these. > How to Know if my CPU Support AVX [Step By Step Guide 2023] "Here are some steps to enable AVX on Windows using the command prompt: Open Windows Command prompt (press The window Button and type cmd) in admin mode. Type bcdedit/set xsavedisable 0 (do not set this value to a number other than 0 ) All done! A successful message will appear." The feature can be toggled by: Enable AVX: bcdedit /set xsavedisable 0 Disable AVX: bcdedit /set xsavedisable 1 ...and you can open an admin level command prompt via a shortcut, by right-clicking the shortcut (within the start menu, or on your desktop etc), then left click "Run As Administrator". > BIOS and AVX/AVX2/AVX512 - Intel Community - note the comments in this thread about enabling and disabling via BIOS - and I'm very aware this is referencing Intel motherboards - I'm making a general comment about BIOS features. ...if hwinfo64 is listing the AVX features as being enabled, then my bet would be your issue is likely to be Windows - which you should be able to fix with the bcdedit command I have referenced. ...and being a boot configuration setting, you'll need to reboot after changing the setting. Lastly - my info is provided "as is". This should be a pretty harmless feature to enable, but I'd still have to recommend that you have a recent (offline) backup of your operating system, before making any configuration changes (although personally I wouldn't bother for something this trivial).
thanks for your effort but I tried all solutions from google and it doesn't work. there are no settings in bios related to avx. it's always on. I just have to live with it. AMS2 is just different ...
After joining Paddock Club I installed the beta and it starts in AVX mode right away... Any ideas what might be the different to the stable version? Could I copy over some files to make it work?
Sorry for asking a stupid question, but what is AVX? A Google Search leads me here: Advanced Vector Extensions - Wikipedia …but my real question is: Why should AVX be enabled?
with a 50€ Ryzen 3 , a 60€ mainboard, and 60€ memory you can double your speed. 100€ more and you get 3 times
