I'm back. back to finalize the stock car related vehicles (for now, we might see a new gen of stock cars next years)

Let's start with sprint race, it have a fairly decent damage model, you can lose the hood, the car have decent scratches all over it, can lose rear wing and the trunk, it have moderate body deformation as well

    Now for the copa Montana:
quite disappointing damage model, the car body have decent deformation and the scratch decals are fine, however, there's an issue with the taillights when they get damaged as you can see in the picture and apart from the rear wing there's no other dangling parts or parts that can fall off

It woulda been nice if we could lose the rear diffuser and the hood/front wheel covers to deliver a more realistic aftermatch

Sadly i don't think we have floor damage in AMS 2 correct me if I'm wrong but i think that the great majority of sim titles don't have floor damage

The only one I know which sort of has it is the F1 game. It would be fun to have floor damage so it punishes cars running too low

on Spa Francorshamps on the sausage kerbs on Les Combes (corners 7, 8 and 9 complex)

I might try again on monza kerbs as well if I get time for more testing today

Woulda been something nice to complement in the Advanced Damage model future updates that Reiza have planned

regardless i think its fair to say that at the moment ams 2 have the second best damage system in sim racing behind only BeamNG for obvious reasons, most sim titles only have suspension damage aero damage and a simplified engine damage whithout stuff like engine, aero and suspension failures that AMS 2 have and the clutch and gearbox damage in ams 2 which is quite realistic as well (I'll never forget when I lost a gear for the first time, thought it was a bug and later realized i was forcing that gear too much on downshifts causing me to lose it after some laps)

We might get tire failures in the future if they implement punctures

Just tried it. Hit this sausage at 260Km/h with Full Damage at Max and the car just bounced as if it is an arcade game, no damage at all. Acording to a real P1 driver, you don't even need a sausage to break a car of this category. A Metalmoro (Chev) at 170Km/h over a regular kerb on corner 2 or 3 on Santa Cruz would be enough to do some bad damage on the chassis and suspension. He criticized AMS2 over that on a video.

Did you hit it with both wheels or just with one? I think I hit it with one wheel and it gave the car 20 or 30% suspension damage, about what you mentioned about kerbs thats more about floor damage from ground effect cars sadly there's no floor damage on the game

I'll do more serious tests today to make on what instances and on what cars the sausage kerbs cause damage (it shouda been most cars regardless) and if it only give damage when oly one wheel hit it or if when both wheels hit it but regardless There's something clearly wrong with the current system on this scenario

All right did the testing and here’s the thing the Ginetta I used was the modded inmotion revolution by Kaos mod that one did got the suspension damage but the reiza cars I tested didn’t

really strange, so it is possible to get the suspension damage on the game engine but rn only this mod got it for some reason, go figure im testing some more cars and might bring more updates on the damage model of more cars tomorrow

Update tried the Cadillac DPi on the spa sausage kerbs and got the damage

so some cars can damage when hitting the sausage kerbs and others don’t

All right I tried 6 different cars

    A F Classic gen 4, a ginetta P1, a caddy DPi, a F-USA 2023 and lastly a Formula V10 gen 2

and the interesting thing is all the cars with the new 1.5 physics did not got damage from hitting the sausage curbs at 260+ km/h

but the cars without the new physics the f-v10 and the Cadillac DPi did got damage from hitting the curbs, really odd, hopefully that gets fixed when full 1.5 arrive, otherwise all the cars will just not take suspension damage from hitting sausage curbs at high speed

After yesterday tests on suspension damage lets go back to reporting the visual damage of every car

this time I'll cover the current prototypes featured in the game, I previously covered the group C but with the upcoming Le Mans DLC and endurance focused DLC and content coming by the end of the year or next year the prototype list will change, maybe we'll get more group C cars and maybe some existing prototypes could receive updates on their damage model (plz fix the Sauber C9 and Porsche 962 Long Tail damage Reiza).

But Lets start with P1, unlike some people think the current P1 cars featured in AMS 2 are not Le Mans prototypes, they are based on the Império Endurance Brasil championship with different rules and BOP, worth mentioning that in the upcoming weeks we might get the new Sigma P1 G5 and an updated Metalmoro AJR, the big question is if they will stay on regular p1 class or if they would move to a P1 2022 or 2023 or gen 2 class and if we'll get the new Ligier P1 car that is running there.

The current cars i believe are based on the 2018-2020 championship

Well Let's get started with the P1 and with no one less then the king of the series in RL the Metalmoro AJR, it have many engine configurations and should get an updated version with new aero kit including a bigger rear wing and DRS on both the front and the rear.
    upload_2023-7-4_15-35-16.png
The current version have a fantastic damage model one of the cars that have the highest count of detachable parts (all though that is partially due to its wheel covers being separate parts to the hood/front wing the car have moderate body deformation, good scratches decals and can loose or damage the front wing, left and right wheel covers, the small lip close to the windshield that is removed irl to do suspension adjustments or repairs.

now the Ginetta G58, the car is a track toy car that succeeded the g57 LMP2 and LMP3 models, it used to run on the imperio endurance championship with a proper BOP until Covid came and after the 2021 championship, sadly, Ginetta left the championship, both in the p1 class and in the GT4 class. the car is slower than the AJR specially on the straights but can make a bit of ground on the corners
    upload_2023-7-4_15-42-48.png

The damage model for it however have some minor issues. While I believe that what we have deliver a realistic aftermath, the car have minimal body deformation (more noticeable on the shark fin) have apparently no scratches decals or minimal scratches decals, and can lose the hood/wheel covers) and the rear bumper that is attached to the wing (both fall together not separately) and you can't lose the engine cover.

Odly enought, the mod Inmotion revolution that features a garage 56 experimental electric car that sadly never competed on Le Mans if I'm not mistaken, the car uses a ginetta body and on the mod it can actually lose the engine cover and reveal its motor/battery
    upload_2023-7-4_15-50-21.png

That makes me wonder if engine cover damage could be officially implemented on the G58, I imagine that if a modding team without dev tools, with a lot less resources than Reiza and having to deal with the annoying Hex files, managed to do it, I'll assume that Reiza can do it too

Now for the lower Imperio Endurance classes (that currently don't compete anymore in the class) we have P2, P3 and P4 and I'll cover all of them in one post jus cuz one particular car is in all those classes, with slight body changes (most noticeable part being the engine cover)

P2: Have The Metalmoro MRX and the Sigma P1, sadly the closed cockpit Metalmoro MCR that was a common face in the Championship (and in my personal opinion look better than the MRX) is not in the game.

The MRX P2 its an open top prototype and like its big brother the AJR it have a great damage model with medium body deformation, good scratches can lose the hood/wheel cover, the rear wing and the engine cover. just like its big brother the only thing I woulda add/change would be making the rear diffuser/bumper a detachable part
    upload_2023-7-4_16-14-17.png

Now the Sigma P1, early generations of the car was supposed to challenge the AJR on P1 but ironically it was too slow and ended being placed on the P2 class instead, where it did performed quite good. The new G5 version of the Sigma actually solved its issues and made it quite quick the on the most recent races it broke the track record and got pole and it managed to convert that pole on a win last race. But well the old "slow" Sigma P1 (P2) is what we currently have in the game and like previous cars, it have a great visual damage, with moderate body damage, scratches and can lose the front wing/wheel covers, the rear wing and difuser as well as the engine cover
    upload_2023-7-4_16-21-19.png

Now for P3 we have the MRX P3 which have the same body damage as the P2 version and the other car is the really unique looking Roco 001

Sadly at the moment of this post the Roco Does not feature any body damage, zero deformation or scratches and can lose the rear wing but that's it, I believe that might change in the future like it did with many cars from brazilian series that didn't had any visual body damage in the past like the F-vees, Copa Classic, Copa Montana and GT5 cars.

(Update) recently the Roco received a damage model. It have moderate deformation on the nose, can lose the wheel arches along a part of the front wing and the rear wing. I think it woulda been nice if it could lose some of the side parts and the nose however whe we got does deliver a decent aftermath for any accident with the car involved.
    upload_2023-9-7_10-51-58.png

and lastly for P4 we got another MRX and once again same damage model of the P2 and P3 versions and the MCR S2000

The MCR S2000 is another car with great damage model can lose the hood/wheel covers, tear wing, engine cover and have scratches and decent deformation (even on the front splitter)
only issue is a visual bug of floating brake lights when you get damage on the rear of the car.
    upload_2023-7-4_16-30-36.png
    and here's the bug
    upload_2023-7-4_16-30-59.png

well that was a very long post I might do a last post later today with DPi and tomorrow maybe I'll cover GT5
