Can AMS2 have electric cars? Would you like it? If yes, which ones would you like?

I used to hate electric cars. They were anti-cars cars, at least to my perception of what cars "should be"... until I drove one. Turns out they're pretty cool. Also, I played with some electric car mods on Assetto Corsa and they're also very cool to race with.

So, after this brief introduction I have a question: can AMS2 engine handle electric cars? I know Project CARS 3 have electric cars. Can AMS2 also have electric cars?

If yes, then how would you like it? An "electric DLC", like PCARS3?
And again, if yes, which ones would you suggest?

 

Since AMS2 nails at the open wheeler discipline, I'd love to have a generic Electric Formula, based on the current Formula E cars.

 

Another suggestion would be the Lotus Evija, more specifically the Fittipaldi Edition, presented at the Interlagos GP last year (2022), in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Emerson Fittipaldi's 1972 championship. It would be a nice addition, just like the McLaren Senna we already have.

Also, there's already a Lotus Evija in Project CARS 3 that could serve as a base for a possible AMS2 version.

 

Well there is an electric car mod in AMS2. And I would really like electric cars

 

Since AMS2 can simulate the Hybrid system in the modern F1 cars, from a technical standpoint electric cars shouldn't be an issue. I personally don't much care for them to be honest.

 

Only Formule E, nothing else

 

I can get you data about my impressive e-up to simulate it perfectly... it can even go 136kmh flat out. Also needs a simulation of groceries and a baby seat in the back.

But be aware, after just 2 laps on the Nordschleife it will switch to snail mode of 80kmh due to overheating and discharge of the batterie.

 

I bought the rF2 DLC, and from my experience there Formula E Gen 3 is a nice challenge to drive around. Far superior experience than racing those bland GT3 cars everyone seem to adore.

However Formula E tracks are god damn awful. They are mickey mousey because these cars need to regen the battery, so tracks are as anti-fun as it can get. They are also very very narrow, which means racing vs the AI can be a terrible experience. Racing in public online lobbies WILL be a terrible experience, given online drivers can't go 1 lap without crashing even on the training-wheelies GT3 cars.

 

At least not as Raceroom has implemented the VW ID.
Its fun to drive - but becomes a bit boring because you dont have to shift gears.
But its not so boring as most people would think

An RXe car would be nice

 

Yes, I agree it's a bit boring when you don't need to change gears. But the one thing that I like about racing electric cars in videogames is that you can hear every sound from the tyres, from skiding to kerbs.
Also, another thing I could imagine is that in real life cursing and swearing while driving could achieve whole new level, maybe it could even become a sport on it's own.

EVs are fun to drive... All that torque at your finger tips...

And with the way they race in Formula E it's like if Formula 1 in the 80s was a spec series... They all race like Prost and not like Keke...

Then there's the other wonderful pieces of machinery... like this...

 

But this one looks pretty ugly (IMO).
Modern racing cars should be low.
This one looks like a reasonable low and smooth racing car chassis bolted upon a half meter high building foundation of batteries.
Hehe even the Panoz "Batmobile" looks more racey.

Both are better looking than a modern F1 car and some GT cars that are just basic 4 door saloons... Both would be a joy to drive in a simulation...

It's not like we are talking about cars that look as bad as a Caterham CT05 or March E21 where no one understood the engineering thought process behind the design...

By the way, modern racecar design in prototypes are going bigger not smaller and lower... Just look at Hypercar... The McMurty would fit right in next to a 9X8 even if it's 3/4s the size of the 9X8 and as tall as a LMP2...

 

Hehe if we made a poll about the most ugly cars in RL then Im sure both this DeltaWing and probably the ugly E-thing in the video above would find its place.
But maybe the Chaparral vaccum cleaner would end on top.

 

I'd throw a few modern F1 cars into the list... Not every designer has Newey's touch...

I'd be able to make a top 20 without including the EVs or F1s though...
