I think a great feature would be the ability to save your progress during the race, but only during pitstops, not mid lap. Is there any chance of Reiza adding this option?
In a dev update a few month back Simioni mentioned that they are working on some kind of mid save. So at least they consider it some kind of possible.
Good to know. It would be awesome to have LONG races featuring AI driver stints, say a 24 hour race where the progress can be saved at each driver swap.
Yeah I hope this is coming soon, I used this a lot with RFactor2 and it's a godsend when the wife demands you do the washing up mid race! Seriously though it is a very handy feature for those with less time to race, running a race spread out over a week for example is easily achievable.
It would promote and encourage long format races, instead of the silly 5 lap races a lot of people do.
It is a key-feature for me, and not just because I love endurance racing, but to avoid life-related causes of unpredictable gaming stop (eg. works, family). Furthermore (and I think I'm not the only one) come back to driving after an unexpected interruption (e.g. phone call) leads to loss of concentration and ruining what has been done up to now... so I really hope in some in-game saving features for those who cannot isolate themselves from the world for a long time but loves long races.
Buy your wife a dishwasher.....problem solved! Or, cheaper option, do the washing up in a bowl on your lap, whilst still driving. Might work?
Even in DCS a mid-flight saving is under development: sims attract older players, life is changing and almost no one have time for long-sessions or re-try stopped ones...
I faintly remember even the old F1 GP2 had a savegame functionality (yes, I'm also that old ). Sadly it is one of those things that disappeared (like manuals properly explaning stuff). Hopefully we can get it back, even though I understand that retrofitting it into an existing engine is no small task.
yeah, I remember GP2 saving to... it is surely not easy to inject such feature in an existing engine (eg. DCS is working on it, it is not sure it will works) and the problem seems to be the livetrack. Obviuosly it is just my opinion and I really love livetrack, but if there will be an "endurance" option which enable in-game saving and disable livetrack, I will be happy.
Yeah until now this has been the official explanation. But personally I do believe its more this problem: Because otherwise its difficult to understand that they are working on it - if it principally is impossible My own oppinion is that because we are only talking about a SP issue then even if the fully correct "live track" state isnt re-established then who would care? I mean anything that sounds, feels and looks somewhat like the orig live track state would suffice. Even if it isnt theoretically exact the orig state. Anything is better than as it is now. ByTheWay: Its exactly the same with the missing or crippled replay "service" where all other sims allow you to step forward/backward directly on the timeline. Why not just establish somewhat like the live track state. Instead of the goofy crippled replay "service" we have now.
hehe thank you But thinking a bit more about it then Im more or less sure that the replays in most (all?) other sims dont replicate 100% how the car did actually behave live when the replay was "recorded".
I'm really not bothered about the livetrack aspect, I just want to be able to do full 12/24 hour races with AI co-drivers. Without the save function, the most I can manage is about 4 hour races.
Am I complete nuts assuming that you can let an AI team pal drive your car while you get a rest. I honestly dont know because I never use the un-intelligent AI bots
