Hi all, I thought it could be nice to have a certain thread where we can discuss the topic focused on real motorsports. We have great debates about the sims, why not specifically for the real counterparts?! All motorsports classes, events, drivers, teams etc. would fit perfectly into it like Rallye, Stock cars, Indy, WEC, IMSA, F1, BTCC...whatever is or could be of interest and someone wants to share and discuss anything. I'd like to start with the first cracker of the year, the Rolex 24h. Qualifying is done. Only 3 days to go If someone haven't watched the qualifying you can do some catching up here (hope it works in all countries): https://www.imsa.com/video/2024-rolex-24-at-daytona-qualifying/
Acura could have a hard time over the weekend. They are due to BOP adjustments 42kg heavier than the year before as I just read. Sounds like a big deficit for both cars.
Will be cheering for the no.6 963 what a lineup they have in that car. Jaminet, Tandy, Vanthoor, Estre...
Yes, pretty strong drivers. I'm undecided between Porsche and BMW. I hope it will be a fantastic and close race. I will start with my preparations now . Have to cook a big pot of chili con carne over the next 2-3 hours to get myself fed w/o leaving the rig tomorrow evening (race gets started at 7:40pm my time) for too long.
Tomorrow the 1000 Miles of São Paulo will take place at Interlagos, now qualifying is taking place. A mix of various categories will run for 12 hours. Audio in Portuguese. Sorry my bad english ! CLASSIFICAÇÃO - #GPCidadeDeSP1000Milhas Chevrolet Absoluta 2024 | Autódromo de Interlagos/SP - YouTube
Weather could play a factor in this, chance of rain, big storm currently far off to the west tracking NE so may clip the track later on.
Cool stuff. I missed the last 8 hours. Exhausted by carneval events...but back since 5:45am here. Porsche on the top. Good news
What a slacker! I'm just getting back to it now after a pretty reasonable amount of sleep, nice to find Estre at the wheel.
I'm a busy man The 963 are good on pace now. Weather seems to remain dry. What is Estre doing in his outlap...
I don't know, I stepped away for a moment, came back and they're a lap down!...typical. It's been a scrappy race for that car. oh well! some great racing at the front of GTP and LMP2, very enjoyable.
boah.. huge test for my nerves edit: Fantastic finish. Nobody seems to know why the race was already over and not 1 or 2 laps later but it is as it is. Porsche got it. Strong pace from Cadillac. I was wondering why Porsche #6 was not able to match the speed in the end. More virtual energy left but 1s/lap slower.
The #6 Porsche was dealing with penalties involving using too much energy (2 or 3, not including the warning they got early in the race) so my guess is that they purposefully underused their energy to prevent even more penalties being handed out to them and harsher punishments being given. Really sucks but hey, that's endurance racing for ya
