Some cars you can adjust the individual gear ratios but not the final drive ratio, one example is the Nissan GTR GT3, at Bathurst can't use sixth gear, this doesn't seem right to me?
This isnt right. But this is the situation in a lot of the cars. Where final drive cannot be changed. I guess people dont even bother to report it. Because of all the other bugs
GT3 cars are BOPed (BOP = Balance of Performance), which includes the gear ratios in all FIA homologated GT3 cars. The gears therefore are fixed and cannot be changed. That being said, I think the GT3s in AMS2 follow the Imperio Endurance Brasil rules, for which I'm not sure if the cars are FIA homologated and therefore gears should be allowed to be adjusted freely, or if there are any regulations preventing something.
I understand about series in rl having fixed ratios but if individual ratios can be changed then surely so should the final drive ratio!
OK? But how about all the formula cars in AMS2 where you cannot change the final drive. Is that also because of some RL FIA homologation?
Maybe. Modern F1 cars have had locked down gearboxes for at least a decade. For the older ones, there's always the question if the final drive could be changed on the real car or not, be it technical restrictions or regulations.
So if the final drive is impossible to adjust then it is because its the same in RL. Maybe. And if it on the contrary is adjustable then its because Reiza has opened it specially for us. Thank you Reiza.
Observations and constructive criticism should anyone at Reiza take note. P1 class at Le Mans de la Sarthe, adjusting final drive is possible in this class -1 click (Sigma P1, didn't try others in the class) if memory serves me correct. The result is too short and you hit the rev limiter before the end of the long straights. A pointless adjustment as even at 120 difficulty the AI don't and hence have a lower top speed than the player. I was under the impression that the AI did alter setups at higher difficulties to go faster. GT3 Gen 2 have adjustment (-1 click again) automatically optimised for Le Man's de la Sarthe with the low down force variant. However GT3 Gen 1 have no adjustment available or a low down force variant. Both GT3 Gen 1 and P1 are classes ideally suited to Le Mans de la Sarthe, I would like to enjoy driving them there multi class style, however there seems little point with things as they are.
No point driving the Nissan at Bathurst either if you cant get out of 5th gear down Conrod straight, just stupid! Bet all the GT cars at the Bathurst 12hr don't run round not getting into top gear!
Also having individual gears with adjustment of just one click either way is a waste of time, there's no point to that as it doesn't equate! Someone hasn't thought that through properly!
