Foggy mirrors in MP Mode bug?

I'm wondering what settings we might have turned on that is causing this semi random issue... for example, if we turn off "lens flares", does it go away? or we turn off high quality mirrors, etc...? Perhaps, it's not even related to "settings".

 

This isn't a fix for me...

I think it's a bug when you get loaded into a MP lobby... Maybe it's because someone else joins at the same time or someone joins when the mirrors are loaded during the loading screen or some other kind of random event that triggers it...

 

It's happening to me all last night in Mclaren Gt3 .I've just switched back to vr but all the same settings I always use .Very strange and very annoying!

 

The bug is random, mostly in MP, and on some tracks but not others.

 

It happens often in MP if the weather is set to clear.

Personally it happened alot less in recent times, but I still get users who ask for it in different chats, as it still happens.

 

Just had the bug again, when joining a Multiplayer Practice Session. To me, the bug appears only in Multiplayer. Pretty random and not on specific cars i would say.

 

Another thing I've noticed is that (at least when the side mirrors get foggy) the fogginess gets worse when the mirror faces the sun. Otherwise it can look almost normal.

Makes me think it's some sort of reflection shader issue.

Tho I've never had the rear mirror do that - that one always breaks completely if the foggy bug occurs.

 

Yes, saw this behavior too. The problem goes from slightly foggy to complete foggy mirrors for me. If i remember correctly, sometimes it is just a problem with the rear mirror, sometimes all.

Pretty random, but i think only in practice sessions, as far as i remember, when it happened.

 

If people would have the discipline to put the hardware in their signature, maybe we could determine if it is an NVIDIA or AMD issue...?

 

I can tell you with 95% certainty it's not related to hardware.

 

Is it happening to people who used AMD GPUs? It's certainly happening for me on RTX 4090. Perhaps, it is only happening on RTX cards?

 

I'm the proof, that it happens on AMD cards aswell. And currently I can reproduce it 100%, when chosing a different car than the one the lobby host is using. So this only happens when I enter the lobby not as host. ie. RCO session gets created, I join as 2nd, host has the McLaren GT3 Gen2 selected, this car gets auto selected for me too, then I change to my BMW M4.

 

Interesting. I also get this issue with RCO hosted races, but can't recall if I'm getting the issue when it's P2P hosted. Maybe it's a server hosted issue.

 

Now that you mention it, in my case the foggy mirror seemed to always happen when joining a session already in progress.

Even had it happen today when someone started a session early. As far as I recall, I haven't had the bug once where the lobby was still... in the lobby. Not practice, not quali.

But you might be onto something. Each time has been with using a different car than the host.
