i think you are in the wrong forum.
You should ask in the opencomposite discord.
there you find the devs and pro's for OC.
1st question should be: is PSVR2 compatible to OC and openXR?
    2. does Sony deliver and support openXR environment or do you have to use SteamVRs OpenXR implementation? Meta has its own openXR and thats why its fast. SteamVR's openXR is meh on foreign headsets.

BTW, openXR toolkit is just a settings tool for openXR, not a driver or anything similar.

It appears there is no support OpenXR itself. I did manage to use OpenComposite but SteamVR still needs to be run in order for headset to work, so it's pointless at the moment. So it's basically locked to steam.

I don't really have any faith in Sony devs implementing OpenXR support natively anytime soon, but I have more hope in Meta devs fixing the bug they introduced in last firmware that breaks the toolkit support. Hence returning the headset. And it looks like plenty of people are complaining online about the performance of PSVR2 on pc right now.

I know that the toolkit is neither a driver nor is it supported, but I was hoping that foveated rendering would save the performance. Unfortunately even on Iracing it does not help much.

So I'm back to square one to find a headset that both runs well with AMS2 and has wider fov than my current quest 2.

i have a similar problem with Pico 4.
    No own XR support.
But the difference to my Quest 2 is so high and with the 4080 i have nearly no performance problem.
So the Pico is the choice.

I got Quest 3 today and the difference between the PSVR2 fov and this one is not much, but the performance is fantastic. Comfort isn't great, probably have to shell out for the expensive addons, but it looks great and feels less like looking through a swimming mask.

I read a lot about using VD instead of a link cable. Is VD that much beter to use? What is the difference? Does it run smoother?

For me overall the experience is much better. Quest Link is a neglected and janky piece of software. Meta have little to no incentive to improve it. For me Link's performance breaks down at bitrates above 600mbps. It's the same story on Pico, VD does some kind of encoder magic and it just looks better.

VD HVEC 10-bit @ 200mbps + adaptive quantization = a fantastic image with brilliant performance. It's just a much much better piece of software and in terms of usability/QoL there's no comparison. H.264 at 500mbps is a great option for simracing also.

However, a wifi6 router in the same room as you is pretty much a must. If this isn't an option then you might not have the best time. I bought a Netgear rax10 to run as a dedicated router for VR after struggling with my ISP's router and it's been rock solid ever since.

Thanks. Will give it a try. I have a WiFi 6 router. The only minor detail is that I have to run a UTP cable across the floor to the switch. So every time I want to use a wired connection, I have to connect my pc to the switch. The router is just 1 thin door away from where I sit so that will not be a game breaker.

I would suggest jumping on the VD discord, outlining your current setup to them and seeing what they say. link

I have a space that I tend to use for standalone in room directly adjacent to where I have my rig. It's thin stud wall no insulation and even over that distance I notice a drop off in performance/noticeable stutter. So just worth asking what they think before purchasing. There is always a mod there willing to answer questions.

Thanks again, will take a look at the Discord server. I don’t purchase anything as I have all I need.

What do you actually do when you need to use wired connection for internet on the pc? Where do you plug in the wifi 6 router then?

I don’t understand what you mean. I have a WiFi 6 router in a utility cupboard. Here comes the internet in my house. (Fiber). Adjunct to my Living room. Normally I just use the WiFi to connect my PC to the internet (via that router) but for Virtual Desktop I need a wired connection. Thus I use an UTP cable to connect to my router when I play with wireless VR.

Hm ok. This wouldn't work for me unfortunately - I have a local provider router that I can't really change, it's not a great one either. In addition the walls in the apartment are thick and old (and clay inside) so the signal isn't great. Since I need stable internet on a stationary pc for work I use a wired connection but to avoid dragging the cable through the whole apartment it's plugged through a powerline adapter through sockets.
So now, if I were to use a wifi6 router specifically for vr, I'd best plug that directly into pc, create another network just for vr, etc. But I wonder, how can I have both this router and the wired internet plugged in at the same time without buying another network card for pc.

USB to Ethernet dongle if you dont have room for a pcie card.
Alternatively, plug the powerline into the router/AP and then pc into router.
I did notice an uplift with using 6Ghz on a wifi 6e AP vs 5Ghz on a wifi 6 router btw, and the cheapest way I found I could get 6e/6GHz was with this AP extender.

Bought one TP-Link router myself today. Just for use as an access point. Dedicated for Wireless VR gaming with VD. Placed this one near my PC and use an UTP to connect this TP-Link router to my ISP router. Perfect signal.

I'm actually buying this exact one tomorrow funny enough. I scanned local wifi using Acrylic Wifi Analyzer and no-one near me even uses 6ghz so that alone will be a benefit. Will be replacing a netgear WAX202.

Ok I'm actually stupid! Thanks for this, don't know how I didn't think of that solution, it's actually simple - wifi6 router next to pc, powerline into new router, router into pc. Thanks!
Im just wondering if it isn't better for the signal to have a separate network for Vr.

Separate radio band (e.g. 6Ghz) way more important than separate network. As long as the traffic from your PC is only traversing the new router and not boomeranging back through the base router you'll be fine.

As we are talking about hardware. I am running a Quest 3 and am experiencing a weird sound issue. After about an hour of time, my sound suddenly sounds extremely distorted. It definitively is a hardware problem, as the sound is still okay on my streams. As I am a heavy sweater, I assume that maybe some sweat is running into the speaker slots. When I come back next day, everything is fine again.

So far this is happening for about four weeks now. And it only happens while racing, not while trucking in ETS2 - another hint it could have to do with sweat.

Anybody else experiencing this? If so, what do you think the problem is and how did you solve it?

I did notice crackling while using a cable. Lowered the Bitrate from 960 to 900 and I think it's gone.

Thanks mate, but bitrate is on 400 and as I said it takes a while until the crackling starts.
