Even at 400 it can crackle. This depends entirely on the motherboard, cables etc. From 600 onwards it crackles for me, but just like yours, only after a while. Just try a long race with standard settings to exclude the bitrate. I'm also guessing the bit rate for you. But VR can cause really complex problems.

Ps... also try restarting after changing the bitrate. I've had mistakes like that before. The bit rate was only adopted after a restart.

Now that´s interesting. So you (both) say that the bitrate may lead to crackling after some time? I excluded it because I thought this problem should be there right from the start. Okay, I´m gonna keep that one in mind and hopefully can check next time. It´s not quite as easy as usually it shows up in the middle of an online race.

I only recently got a quest 3 and I'm current using A regular usb 3.0 cable with Oculus Link. I dont have any comparison but to me it seems to run flawlessly. Is it really worth the trouble getting VD?

I only have Wifi5 (1200/80 Hz) at home and it stutters a lot when sim racing. Everything else such as Half Life Alyx runs great but sim racing doesn't. And the image quality is also not as good as with USB3. The link cable works perfectly. But I've never tried Wifi6 before (2400/160hz)

I bought a wifi6e router just acting as an access point. Dedicated to my Quest 3. Did not used it for AMS2 thus far but for other games It looks like it does works better. The AP is placed just next to my monitor and connected with an UTP cable to my 1GBit router. My PC is hooked up to the AP as well (also UTP) and the quest 3 is connected to the AP via WiFi 6e. Got great performance. 2401 Mbit.
The Router was on sale and bought it for just €120. that said, a lot of money for just some speed. I’m thinking to buy the Cristal Primax light one day. But for now I’m more than happy with the Quest 3. In AMS I get a steady 90 fps (via linkcable) will test the VD variant asap.

Sounds great. I'm getting a 6e router tomorrow, will see as well how it goes. What's your bitrate?

Bitrate with the h264+ codec is 500Mbps. I use this codec for quick paced games like AMS2 or FP shooters. For more slow paced games I use the 10-bit HEVC.

Alright, got the TP-link AXE75 but my bitrate in Virtual Desktop is limited to 46. Raising it results in crazy stutter. Set up 6g network only, turned off 2g and 5g, connected like internet router -> powerline adapter-> TP-link AXE75 -> desktop PC. I'm definitely doing something wrong since many people recommend the router for Quest 3.

Could be the powerline adapter interfering. I don’t know. Here at my place it works like a charm. I also have a TP-Link AXE75. With WiFi 6E.

I have no knowledge about bitrates and codecs. I have set h264 at 900 Mbit just because I read this someday somewhere and it looks good and runs great. Don’t know if I should try other settings and if I could get even better results. Somewhere I read that h265 would be best quality but Bitrate should have only 200 Mbit then, but honestly I don’t know what all those settings would affect… Not the resolution and not the framerate I think, so don’t get the reason behind those settings. I use Quest 3 at full resolution over Link cable…

Alright, figured it out. After a few restarts the router decided to update firmware and now has perfect connection. 2400mbit connection, 6g on quest. Virtual desktop experience of the desktop itself is absolutely amazing, what a great piece of software. But the AMS2... well let's say I've tried various encoders on various settings and clarity and latency is a far cry from usb link connection at 900 mbit. Latency is probably just a few miliseconds more, but somehow its reaaaally noticeable. Still amazed it runs so well otherwise, but probably returning to cable.

With AMS2 I play via link cable as well. No need for wireless. But for other games (standing games) I prefer wireless.

I got AMS2 a while ago to try it out by found the in-cockpit view difficult at the time so I stuck with GT7 on PS5. I just got the PSVR2 and also the adapter for PC so can now race in VR so I am giving AMS2 another try.

Apologies if this has been answered before but I have an issue with 2d elements in the VR space. When navigating the main menus (not the in car HUD) the menu screen is absolutely massive. I takes a lot of swiveling the head to see the edges of the menu. It is not comfortable to use.

I'm not sure if this is a SteamVR issue, general computer (in not really a PC guy and only use the PC for AMS2) or a AMS2 configuration issue.

Is there a way to reduce the size of the floating 2D main menu panels?

Yes, reduce your in-game resolution, it will also help performance

That is just for the hud, not for the menu window

I haven't found a way to do this with game settings, but there is another way

If you get OVR Advanced Settings you can move back and forward in your VR space, making the game menu smaller.

But this way you have to move back and forward everytime you want to go around the ingame menu

Well technically you could just bend forwards, press recenter, and go back to normal position. I agree this is better scaled in Gt7. Funny enough in Gt7 for some cars I have to do the same trick to put the camera in proper position as ita often fixed too close to the wheel. But yeah make sure to lower the desktop resolution as well.
