I know this topic has been discussed periodically, but since the developers have been silent on it for several months, I decided to bring it up again. It’s hard to believe that AMS2 was released over four years ago and still lacks a proper career mode. Especially considering the game is built on the Project CARS 2 engine, which had one of the best career modes in a racing game. I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to take the PC2 career mode, modify it, and implement the current available cars and tracks to suit AMS2. Given the current broken state of multiplayer, most AMS2 players consider it to be essentially a single-player sim racing game. However, without a career mode, it’s even hard to imagine the game as a single-player experience. It’s interesting to see how the community has tried to implement third-party career modes, like procedural career and racing life mods, to make up for the lack of a proper career mode. Essentially, they’re doing what the developers haven’t been able to do in over four years of development. To be fair, the developers have done a great job fixing the physics and implementing cars and tracks. But there’s a crucial question they should ask now: How can they increase the player base at this moment? Without a career mode for single-player and a proper multiplayer mode for online play, there’s little incentive to play the game. It’s really sad to look at the charts and see where AMS2 stands among other racing games in terms of player base.
It was always made clear by Reiza that the career mode will be the final development towards the end of AMS2 lifecycle. Since the game is still relentlessly tweaked and worked on there's no point adding a feature that would need adjusting with each new physics or content introduced.
I've developed a companion app of a Career Mode for AMS 2, it's called For The Win. OK, it's not an official career mode and definitely not perfect, but a lot of people liked.. For me at least, it's enough until Reiza bring the official one.. Anyway, If you want to check it out, you can download it for free at Overtake.gg: For the Win - Career Mode for Automobilista 2 I had the idea of a sequel to my app, with more immersion of a driver's career and relatively more difficult.. I even had an idea of developing a MyTeam Career Mode, like the official F1 games, with skin editor and everything.. But currently I have so little time to spare doing these projects, that I don't know if would be worth it..
I´ve tried to download it, but my mcafee doesn´t allow it, says that has some virus in the link. Could you help me?
So, the contents from the .rar file downloaded are the .exe file to execute the app, a folder containing images, .json files and a .kv file which is responsible for the UI of the app, and a .txt file. Maybe it is the .exe file that's is causing this, but at the moment there were no reports of anti-virus preventing the use of my app coming from other users.. But it is safe to use, I can guarantee.. Sorry, I can't test since I'm using Linux and...well, there's no anti-virus here xD
Reiza's goals for the career mode could be completely different from what can be done with the PC2 template. Even if they're similar it may still require a lot of work to tweak aspects they're not happy with or to fix things that have been broken or left suboptimal by the progress made in AMS2. To add a couple career app alternatives, there are also Racing Life and Apex Rivals (used to be Procedural Career). I find both of them good and refreshingly different from each other. I should try FTW at some point as well.
