Sorry this is probably an old topic but I'm a new player and can't quite find a post on it.

I recognise there is a country mile between my skill level and the aliens that play this game but tell me the current Nordschleife GT3 Gen 2 trial time (6:18) is an exploit?

Why aren't blatant physics breaking records disregarded? For context I think 6:49 would put you in real world alien territory so would expect the difference between game and RW say to be +/- 3 seconds....but over 30!?

Am I missing something? Is there an rFactor like physics bug/exploit?

No, they are aliens for a reason

So not necessarily using an exploit just the game physics limitations becomes more apparent over such a long track?

Its more likely your racing lines and breaking that makes you slow.

On the Nordschleife I went from a 8:51 to a 8:25 just by studying the racing line and breaking zones from a ghost

The lap time around the GP layout (this year) was 1:53 and around the 24H layout was 8:13.
Simple maths gives the predicted time around nords to roughly 6:30. I would say the lap times around nords would be a bit faster so doesn’t make the cars too fast compared to real life

Oh without doubt my skill level will be handicapping me , but I'm not using my time as a ground truth but real world drivers

So yes would expect a difference as it's a game but not a 30 second difference ( especially when anything larger than , what 2 seconds is considered slow)

where does this 30 seconds difference come from?

Well this is where I'm hoping someone spots a flaw in my logic , so there's a record for a RW driver doing a 6:49 in a Porsche GT3, the 720s has a record for around 7:00.

The current AMS2 record is 6:18 so plus 30 gets you into the Porsche territory....unless I've had a major brainfart and am looking at the wrong data lol

I was looking at similar data, but that was the road car. That’s why I did some other calculations

You have to consider that the GT3 cars in AMS2 don‘t use real lifes minimum ride hight of 70mm and you can ride them much lower, which maybe is causing a faster lap time.

Please read what I posted. You are using the times of the road cars and not the race cars

I don‘t know for sure right now, but I believe the Porsche 992 GT3 can be driven at 50mm front ride height in AMS2, which I would consider a big advantage in laptime.
Apart from that, I believe the main difference is, that you can ride wilder lines in the game than in real life, no fear of dying ;)
And if you look at 2024 lap times: The Kerb after Fuchsröhre has been changed and made the lap times slower, while you still can full send it in AMS2.

I did sweetheart but I was replying to someone else and I still can't find anything to support the massive difference.

@Siggi_Stoppschild yeah I think there's an element of that, I've just found on other tracks the gap is not so significant but I suppose if there's any gains to be had then over 70 odd corners and 20 odd KM that's going to be magnified no end :p

Please read my calculations which show that it isn’t so big as you say.

70 corners can gain you alot of time if you know how to take them

Try and upload a replay recording of your lap so we can see how you take the track

If you are not close to this you are not close to a good racing line

Thanks for the home work lol

That's great although I don't do the Nürburgring version .....up until a week ago I'd never bothered with Nordschleife.

I don't get much play time and don't have any innate raw ability but have gone from 07:54 whilst learning the track to 06:50 ( and I can honestly say now I've got the Nordschleife bug).

Not sure what the Nürburgring section would add to that but I'm probably way way way off pace.

In the video he does the Nordschleife in 6:36

Also, the setups the aliens uses on TT are for 1 or max 2 laps before the car break down
