I've just bought a budget wheel, Hori Apex I go to Controls > Control Scheme: I select Wheel > Direct Drive Generic... as it's the only option I can choose.. I've tried selecting the "Custom" option but when I try to calibrate it says "not all required controls are assigned". So, Direct Drive Generic I guess.. Then I go to "Edit Assignments" and turn the wheel to assign Left and Right turn controls. All OK, after I've done that the assignment reads: TURN LEFT: LEFT THUMBSTICK. Is that supposed to be so? I calibrate both wheel and pedal and that seems to work, however when I get on track, pedals work but when I move the wheel the car doesn't turn. What am I doing wrong? I've raced with a keyboard for more than 15 years, but now that I'm trying to use a wheel I can't go back to it..
If you choose Custom (which is probably the correct option for your wheel) you need to do the button assignments before you can calibrate. So choose Custom -> Edit assignments -> assign axis & buttons -> calibrate wheel -> calibrate pedals. When assigning the steering axis, turn the wheel in the direction you want to assign and back to center immediatly or you'll get the "multiple inputs detected" error. Probably not, but maybe it's different in the Custom preset. Whatever it says after assigning everything, try calibrating the wheel, you'll see if steering works.
My guess is too like Gevatter that its urgent to get all the buttons and axis assigned first. And then choose Custom instead of the generic DD thing. The message TURN LEFT: LEFT THUMBSTICK sounds like the calib program does believe you are trying to add a game pad - me think
Hello, I am facing this exact same issue. It is showing Left Thumbstick instead of JoyStick Had posted in help and support but no response. any solution ?
I was able to temporarily fix this by choosing gamepad instead of wheel during setup. The problem was there was a huge deadzone before the wheel would register in the game. I looked up the owners manual (PXN V3III) online to see if I could change the deadzone within the steering wheel (the deadzone settings in the game did not help). That is when I found this: The steering wheel is in X-input mode in default after connection. Hold and Press the Home button for 3 seconds to change working mode to D-input. Once I did this and re-binded my steering wheel it stated Joy-X axis instead of the Left Thumbstick when I turned the wheel to the left. Fired up a race and had a realistic steering wheel again. I do have to switch modes to use the d-pad before and after the race but in may case it's just holding the Home key for 3 seconds. I know this is an older post but hopefully it helps someone.
Hi to all. Ricky can you explain to me exactly how do you solved that controls issue, please? Thanks in advance.
Hi to all again, except for AllocDK. I’m joking, you have reason. I should have run the question in this way: do you set “d-pad” mode only during the race then you set again x-input mode? Correct? Thanks.
