OpenXR overlay Ctrl+F2 is not showing. MetaQuest3 with PCLink(USB cable) running... ( set by default OpenXR ). I installed OpenXR, and composite. In OpenXR, I cannot See any gamelist. in composite, I see AMS2 in configure. start up process. Trun on pc, and MQ3. Activate Oculus PC ink. Check AMS2 is set to OpenXR in composite. Run AMS2 with SteamVR mode in steam. After running AMS2 with steamVR, I can see there's no steamVR running. However, I cannot see the overlay, CTRL+F2. Help me please.
its a known issue. Quest headsets do not start in OpenVR mode. They always use Oculus mode. Thats why you cannot use this OpenVR->OpenComposite->OpenXR hack. The only workaround currently is to use the Virtual Desktop app on the Quest and the VD Streamer on the PC. Attention: this is NOT the Virtual Desktop app you can buy on steam. Could you please detail how are you having success with that combination? I keep getting the error, Steam Not Connected, or something like that, and the app freezes. But the thing is that it starts loading in VR, I can see the Reiza Logo, The Logos Page and the Automobilista 2 welcome graphic, all in VR. It's just after that, that the error occurs. Any help or input will be very much appreciated. For those of you with the Quest 3, how are you running AMS2 to get the smoothest experience? Cheers.
Hi all, I used to play AMS2 on.my Quest3 via Virtual Desktop + OpenXR + Opencomposite for more than one year but now it doesn't work anymore. Once launched I can see the REIZA logo on the PC screen but inside the headset the picture is totally Black, I can only hear the music. I reinstalled all the sw (Ams2, Virtual Desktop, OpenXR, opencomposite) but the problem. Is still there. The strage thing is that if I launch ACC in the same way it works fine. Any idea?? Please help
To be honest, I'll stick with the link cable. It looks really great when you have found your settings in the debug tool and you don't have to worry about damaging the functionality with every update of VD, OC, OpenXR, or Meta. This is so annoying in the long run that I prefer to set the Fov to 0.8x0.8 and even get better values than with Virtual Desktop. Everywhere you read about questions and problems with VDXR and Ams2 & OC all the time. It looks 2% better and has 2% worse latencies. The whole thing isn't worth the time investment for me.
I got tired of Meta's dirty usb connection error when using cable. Tried it the other day and it still happens. I uninstalled the Meta software for the last time. They are constantly breaking things. I'm a big fan of the VDXR codec in VD. I do still play with a cable connected, but only for charging while playing, instead of listening to batteries that constantly hum when charging the headset.
I just tried it again on myself. No chance. Although I have an extra 2400mbit router just for the Quest3, I get much, much smoother images with the cable at the same resolution. However, VD can look a little better in Godmode. But I only get consistent images up to medium/high. I don't even know about the dirty USB problem. What is that exactly? And I've never had a noise when charging. I can't hear any noise at all. Not a peep. I would have noticed that long ago, as sensitive as I am to noise. The whole thing is very strange. Some have better results with cable, others with VD. As if there were two or more Q3 series.

The problem seems to be when using charging cables that plug into a wall outlet, the USB port on the headset can't deal with passing data and charging at the same time. It's been a long standing issue with Q3 and Meta software. I do prefer VD, since I have an AXE5400 router which gives me great throughput, and the VDXR codec is just so good. I have no problem using the cable at the same time as VD, but only for charging, not data. Data is transferred wirelessly. The problem seems to be when using the cable for charging and data throughput with Meta software. To clarify what I said earlier about battery hum, I'm referring to 3rd party batteries (10000 ma) that give off a noticeable hum when attached and charging headset while playing. That's why I still connect a charging cable, even though I use VD wirelessly for data throughput. I find the hum quite annoying, but I always have the option of using the battery if I need to use the headset away from the PC for extended periods of time. I also have a neck battery and that also gives off a hum, but not as noticeable as it hangs around my neck and isn't attached to the headset right by my ears.
I have my router connected directly to my PC, so this isn't necessary. I know it works well for people who can't connect directly to their router.
My cable does charge, but very slowly. This means that after a maximum of around 4 hours the quest is empty. For me that's usually enough, but of course it's really, really stupid.
