This is the Hype Train, seems you bordered the wrong locomotive. The Negative Numpty Carriage left from platform one yesterday...

You need to start writing: "ByTheWay: (insert inane stuff)” at the end of your posts, you’re a worthy replacement.

Wait, first page and hype train is already derailed?

The first post is awesome though, decent work @Rodger Davies compiling it all into one post.

Guys, when you strive to go off-topic then i highly recommend you go posting into Chit-Ch......wait a minute, something isn't right here o_O

Jokes aside, what a massive summary
Overhaul of tire hysteresis modelling is missing here which is the most impactful change for the 1.6 physics revision.

I didn't even know what hysteresis means so I avoided that one!

Yeah, it's a bit abstract, but super important indeed. Sorry for the wall of text, i hope i can bring it across a bit understandably:

TLDR it's a determinating factor for the viscoelastic property of rubber and affects the contact patch when the tires are in rolling movement

(by determining how much energy in the phases of the rubber deformation process is converted from deformation when rolling over the surface, which affects how the rubber stretches and squishes and how added friction of that plays into grip and also rolling resistance).

You basically deform a rolling and slipping tire contact patch over the surface to compressed and decompressed state (usually different duration of deformation and reformation of the rubber in their phases of it, which affects contact patch behaviour and shape, btw. also generating a bit of thermal energy meanwhile due to an added friction component in the process of this deformation of the rubber).

The way that happens can be determined in the tire physics of the Seta Tire Model and has notable effect on the interaction of deformation grip and adhesion grip depending on the loads and slippage of the cars, it may even affect their heating properties (why thermodynamic overhaul was definitely a factor to be considered aswell).

Some of the generous properties of the 1.5 tires are completely down to a way too generic and generous way how the hysteresis interacts with the deformation of the rubber on the surface (so it's not making the contact patch behave close enough to what it should behave like at the limit to say in general terms, this can mean several things, like way too wide peak slip angles, wonky or even too easy car behaviour in turns and on brakes/throttle).

Very nice, thank you for this summary. Didn't know about the LMP3 and the euro track rumors .

Very great way to explain things. :)

Will there be some TC adjustement in terms of sound to be more realistic and reduce the TC kick in a fast corner that isn't supposed to happend specially with low TC values.

    Thanks !

Needs to be seen, TC behaviour is related to slip so when tires change, it also changes in actuation, a few adjustments to TC behaviour might happen aswell - not always is it wrong to have TC actuating in faster corners if there is substantial steering lock and the TC feeling slippage either tho.

When it comes to sound of TC actuation no promises yet. While F-V10 Gen2 isn't particularly off, some other vehicles i'd agree it should be toned down a little, but there is a lot on the plate due to whole audio package being worked on.

    Great post.

I think it would be useful to highlight what will be paid DLC.

I was thinking this but I'm not actually sure - I think beta testers may have an idea. I believe there's a five car Endurance Pack 2, but there are already six cars that I would assume should be in it, so I don't know. If I've missed info from somewhere, let me know.

    Good post!

To be honest, I that think going forward the announcement threads (both dev updates and releases) should be auto locked straight away, and a corresponding 'reaction' thread like this opened under General Discussion for all the banter.
It would make the announcement threads much cleaner and to the point for people who aren't forum regulars.

And... I'm hyped for 1.6!!!!!!!! :hurrayreiza:

    Thanks for the fast response.

I was thinking for exemple of nordsheilfe with corners flat out on first sector when even at TC 1/10 it kicks (GTE) . So in Time Trial the meta is to run with 0/10 TC (also true on other tracks and cars). In real life these cars a meant to be used with TC otherwise you are dead.

I remember a le mans race with a LMP2 driver having trouble during the race due to TC malfunction.

Also as we don't have control of TC1 / TC2 / power cut it is hard to have a balanced TC
