Road to V1.6 Hype Train (cont.)

Reiza promissed an update with no deadlines, already gave us some glimpses and teasers of it, lovely deep technical details and is saving some for the last report, either because they wanted that way or because of burocracies.

Yes, it is taking long, but no promisses were broken. And even if they were, Reiza is doing which they think that is better for their "art" and for their business (we are on a sandwich of LMU/RR updates and ACE announcements afterall).

With the devblogs and commets all around we already saw some negatives: MP integration is not ingame (as I was personally expecting); UI overhaul is not now, just the first steps; not all light things are complete (as the post above mine says) and more that we dont know yet.
MP apart, nothinh major IMO, but they cant afford much of that.

They have to hit the target to present competition and fight for peoples money (not ours, as I believe most of us already have ALL the DLCs ) and minds. This is not just a massive update for the game, but a battle for a (much deserved) better position on the market

I for one, believe in what theyre doing, in where they want to take the game and, while anxious about it, say: "let them cook".
With that said, my vacations are in this november....

But actually I came here to ask something about the humidity thing: the condesation on wings is linked to Old Gen F1 cars, or can happen any time given the right conditions, because that is how the world works now?

 

Given all the nitpicking when "it's a matter of weeks not months" is treated as "literally 2-3 weeks" and other vague terms. I think the only way would be the legal talk which will be dry as Sahara sands, at which point I'd prefer a complete radio silence.

I'm still foolishly hoping that the community will actually appreciate this unique situation and start embracing it a little bit more.
There's a lot of folks that are playing along, but there's way too many vocal whiners who will complain no matter what. That happy/whining ratio needs some serious improvement to keep the conversations more civilised.

 

Is the ability to hide/remove content you don't use still going ahead ?

The update is not complete. They are still beta builds that are send to beta testers. Reiza are working to integrate physic and audio to all class right now. If they say that 1.6 is delay, me and many of fan will be mad at her. We are impatients and we shouldn’t. Reiza walk to eggs or on lego block. They don’t want to have our pressure. My guest is that it might come before christmas sometime in november. Personnally, i want it before the lmu gt3.

 

I mostly agree with your sentiment, however I think that it should also be remembered that before AMS2 was released certain criteria were laid out by Reiza to exactly what the game would become during it's lifetime development, those features and promises were the reason many bought the game early on. So perhaps foolishly,( I have faith that not) we bought a house that was far from complete with the promise of later construction.

My first impressions of AMS2 were very negative and I had perhaps less than 10 hours on it in the first two years. However I was and still am impressed with the progress Reiza as made and now, if still not quite my favourite sim, it is definitely the one I drive in most and would recommend to anyone looking to get in to sim racing.

My point is that yes we should expect more, but also we should have patience, and trust in the Reiza team. Showing a little respect to them and to each other would also go a long way, but that is true of life in general.

 

Happens with all of the fast open wheel/formula cars, old or modern.

Similar to this I would imagine:

A staging site's main purpose is to ensure that all new changes deployed from previous environments are working as intended before they hit the live website. By using a staging site and testing everything before deploying to a live website, you will be able to eliminate bugs and issues, so they never affect the user.

 

I just tried racing with the Ginetta at Imola. 30 Ai at 120%. On the very first lap, one of the AIs (at the very front) had an engine failure and brought the entire field of riders behind to a standstill.

Honestly, if the AI isn't capable of overtaking this vehicle, how can you expect it to attack the player from behind? I would be really happy if with 1.6 the AI has learned enough to finally allow a race to take place forwards and backwards.

But I think it will be a long time before the opponents in the mirror actually become opponents. Racing currently seems like an Excel spreadsheet. It is far from organic and alive.

I did 1000 hours in 2 years. That means AMS2 is definitely recommended. But for me the biggest construction site is and remains AI. This is where the game lies. I could live with physics and everything else for a really long time. If the AI seemed more alive.

I'm really happy when the AI actually overtakes me. That shouldn't actually be in a racing game. Normally you should be upset if you lose a place.

I would really appreciate it if a beta tester said so
"Yes, they are dangerous now and can overtake aggressively and quickly" But I can hardly imagine it. There seems to be something in the Madness Engine that Reiza can't get to so quickly.

 

I'll just take this laughter optimistically... surprise me

 

Do Beta testers get access to the complete 1.6 update? Or, are they assigned certain parts of it to concentrate on?
