    I'm not really confused about anything, sorry. I've owned Quest and Pico headsets and know full well how they work and function. I'll leave you to it. You seem happy so i'll let you carry on.

    In other news, seeing as we're posting videos.
    This is running 3600x4100 per eye 90hz. Looks and feels amazing in VR.

    Why no virtual driver? For me it is the most immersive experience. It looks strange without a virtual driver in VR. In pancake mode you don’t want a driver but in VR you do. IMHO. :D

    It's because you can't see AWS generated
    As I said, in the video recording in 2D viewport you loose ASW frames, even more recording a 75Hz monitor at 120 FPS, but the difference from 90 to 45 ASW is noticeble even in 2D when ASW kick in sync. This transition is what I'm talking about.

    My hardware can't handle 90hz locked with Full grid, rain, headlights on. But can handle 60 FPS and 120 FPS in ALL other conditions.

    I like to racing in bad weather with nice visuals, and 60 ASW is MUCH better that 45 ASW.

    And, finally, If someone thinks that 120Hz isn't MUCH better than 90Hz in VR, come here again in two years, when 90Hz will be the Stone Age of VR.

    People like to discuss against facts. It's really boring.

    I match the virtual wheel location to my real wheel. When the motion kicks in you start glitching through the virtual static driver. Easier to just turn it off. Would be best if it was just a pair of gloves or something , or ragdoll the virtual driver so it matches your tracked headset

    I only enabled virtual driver to record some video. In VR all these "self avatars" are terrible for immersion and less FPS for nothing. My "rig" ony have bass shakers, but I use a lot of G forces in camera and understand what happens in a motion rig with wider vertical FOV.

    I could set it so my viewpoint is higher up, raise up the seat, and it'd be fine, I prefer the wheel to match my wheel though. I use my wheels dials for forwards/backwards/up/down to set it for each car. Shame it doesn't lock and auto do it for each car. Or there should be something like a reflecting tracker which you can stick on your real wheel which your headset sees so places the wheel in the correct place.

    Not sure how you can run the simulated G forces in VR though? I have everything on 0.

    I set ALL g forces to 50% and the 0-1 setting that I can't remember the name to 1 (legacy or something) to fix the camera to car, and not the horizon. This dampers the moviment out of car in what I feel more natural than the setting Head moviment itself.

    Maybe works nice in yours motion rig, because It uses the same data that goes to motion motors, I believe.

    I also disable the driver too. But I also take off the face cover on my Q3. Through the BoboM3 I can see through the bottom and sides of the glasses and still see my own hands and steering wheel (3/4). These virtual arms bother me, as if I were driving someone who was driving the vehicle. Its somehow doesn't feel as direct. Furthermore, I can feel the wind better and the Ambilight is also noticeable.

    and at the same time it seems like you have a much larger fov when you can see your own shoulders and legs. A kind of mixed reality. And no more pressure points on the face

    Running Quest 3 via Virtual Desktop, my PC can handle max Medium rendering at 72hz, but i tried to set ASW to "Always Enabled" at 120 hz, so that the framerate would be at 60 with interpolated frames. And honestly, it looks and runs great ! Anyone else tried this setting ?

    Yes, 120Hz with SSW always on is currently my favourite :)

    I need to have a good play with this to see if I can get some middle ground. I prefer locked to car myself, but the horizon jumping everywhere isn't realistic.

    Ah ok. Perhaps I should give that a try as well. The quest 3 does not cover-up the whole face. So perhaps without the whole mask gives a different experience. :D

    I've been following the discussion here and thought I'd try comparing 90Hz native (with turbo on in OXRTK) and 120Hz with motion smoothing. Note I have PSVR2 not Oculus so it is SteamVR motion smoothing rather than ASW, but fundamentally the same.

    So in my 1 lap race test at Nordschleife in the Copa Uno with 2600x resolution override in OXRTK I was seeing gpu frametimes around 7-8ms and gpu usage around 70-80% for my 7800x3d / 3080 system with 90Hz native.

    Then after turning off turbo mode, setting SteamVR to 120Hz and forcing on motion smoothing I was getting frametimes of 9-10ms and 60% gpu utilisation. I could push resolution up to 3000x to achieve similar gpu usage to what I had previously with 90Hz.

    To be honest, I didn't really have any issues with the motion smoothing at 120Hz and the extra bump in resolution at zero performance cost is nice to have, so think I might run like this for a while.

    I know some people can be very sensitive to motion smoothing artefacts, but if you can handle it like me, perhaps consider trying it to gain some more performance

    PSVR2 is a little weird with motion smoothing. If you're just under the desired fps it looks fine, start pushing it too much and it starts warping like an ai video.
    I notice the low fps of 60hz when I turn corners and the world judders along a lot more than with higher refresh rates

    In Quest 2, the problem is the same with 120Hz reprojection when looking 90 degrees to the side in open wheelers, daylight: lots of artifacts with grass, shadows and trackside objects. That's the reason I like to set AMS2 to ASW only kick in at night/rain, when these artifacts are not noticeable. Reprojection hates fast moving objects.

    Looking foward I really have a hard time to identify 120FPS or 60FPS ASW.

    Pimax Crystal Light doesn't seem to handle motion smoothing very well from my testing. Best results so far (in AMS2) coming from the 90Hz Upscale Mode (Pimax Play). AMS2 finally running very smooth now in VR.

    I also did some tests with the 120Hz setting and came to the conclusion that 90Hz is the sweet spot for me. I have everything maxed out in the game except for grass, which I turned off. Other than that, everything is set to ultra, or high where ultra isn’t available. It runs buttery smooth. I don’t race at night because I can’t stand the poor anti-aliasing and flickering. If I want to race at night or in the rain, I play in pancake mode, which I do occasionally.:D

    Definitely different. I can see my H-shift, my handbrake, my ButtonBox, my ignition key, my HUD, and my real one Car cockpit (Opel corsa). Why all this stuff if I need a guide dog in the cockpit in VR.

    Hiding the driver is even in two columns.

    Because it's crazy somewhere when you look from your own shoulder into the picture and it becomes virtual hands. Personally, I just turn it off because I can concentrate better.

    And without a FaceCover....play something like Boneworks....when your own shoulders become your virtual arms. If you can move your arms freely (preferably with hand tracking) and are not just stuck on the steering wheel. You'll feel somewhere like your first day in VR. This is completely new and real WOW again.

    I recommend this to anyone who has VR glasses with a forehead halo, and everyone I showed it to had to grin “Awesome man” xD

    Just try it, it only takes a minute.

    ps: completely forgot the best part. Try e.g. Table Tennis Eleven in >Passthrough< mode. That's awesome. Suddenly the quest feels like a pair of heavy reading glasses. I could explain it...but you wouldn't believe it xD

    I have a psvr2 too so I will try that

    so far in any headsets I own , my religion was 90hz and ASW/retro projection OFF but hey why not trying new things

    Well, I tried it without the facial cover but as I need glasses it is a no go. The head set is not stable and very loose on my head and my glasses touches the lenses. So a no go. I’m afraid to scratch them.
