You will see how it behaves, when it's up. More grip would be technically wrong, it's more about how it builds up and disappears.

    +1

When I tried it in the latest Beta I couldn't believe how good it felt. Totally transformed, IMHO. But generally speaking, I think the Group C and GT1 cars (among others) feel so much better than they ever did before. The Sauber C9 is definitely the most impressive out of the whole bunch for me, though.

If you drive it on short and twisty track, all you need is 3rd gear :)

It’s testament to how smart the F1 designers are. They will always find away.

I’d like to see a more tactical use of DRS or in 2026 the over power function. Not sure if I’ve got the name right.

where it’s use is limited like push to pass Indycar

"but there's a sense of danger at all times"

This sounds good. Hopefully more cars have this feeling. It's one thing I feel has been missing from ams2.
LMU does this well imo, the hypercars in particular are scary and so they should be.
1.5 I feel I can chuck LMDH cars around every corner and survive 99% of the time. It's only normally on throttle oversteer than gets me coming out of slow corners

Well I guess the commercial interests and the teams' interests are usually quite contrary, I mean... as an F1 team you're not particularly interested in the "show", you want to win.

I never particularly liked DRS, but that may be because I am old and grumpy, I used to enjoy the battles that ensued for many laps vs "Ok, I am just gonna cruise by you now, ok?" But that's just me, things evolve :)

I can tell you that lap 1 in an LMDh car can be scary

You can still chuck them, up to a point, but there is danger when you do, and 95% of the time this goes ok, problem is if it is let's say a 40 lap race, that means you gonna be in trouble at least twice a race or something like that.

It's probably the biggest thing I like about V1.6 in races: no the car will not get away from you constantly unless you push like crazy or did your tire management wrong. It's likely to happen though at some points, I often have 1 or 2 "moments" in a 45-60 min race that are potentially race-ending.

Which feels a lot more genuine than constantly being on a knife's edge, even when pushing quite hard. But different people prefer different things, so well, you'll see how it feels for you I guess.

If my experience is anything to go by: most of your issues are likely to come from trail braking going wrong/turning in too sharply in V1.6, or just not positioning the car well on corner entry, which usually causes the former. More leeway when exiting corners if you recognize things are starting to go wrong early enough.

    Good!
LMDH + cold tyres are a match made in hell and I love it.

Off topic: aren't they going to remove tyre warmers from F1 in the future? That will be interesting to see

I believe they wanted, but won’t happen. I might be wrong though

Important to mention that also default setups usually aim to keep controlability in favour of minmaxing performance, which doesn't mean they're uncompetitive but there is some emphasis on being able to push a car. It may vary with track and conditions of course.

But yeah, trying to exploit yaw constantly or applying overly eager steering lock will not show to be as lenient as it was for sure :D

Yeah, I'll leave the extreme setups to Nils and co (you) who can actually do this for hours on end :)

I remember not being able to get within 2 seconds of the time Nils set (without him using a wild setup, but I downloaded his anyway) when he did a lap in the GT3 Nissan on Nurb (or Veedol) GP I think, I was not very pleased :)

I’m curious to see how things evolve setup wise anyway if AMS 2 being offered in LFM gains any traction, it’s not really a “thing” right now.

I'm currently doing a multiclass championship driving the GT4 (BMW). How do they perform with patch 1.6 compared to the current version?

Cold tires, and now Cold brakes are so much more of a thing than they were in 1.5. Out laps for cars without blankets, especially on a cool or damp track are sketchy but once they come into the window they feel very connected.

1.6 has me legitimately worried for the first few online T1 pile ups.

I'll save crimson a post before he jumps in and points out it depends on the brakes material as steel brakes and carbon breaks have different operating windows which are fully modeled so how long they take to come into the window, how sharp they drop off, and how you manage them will vary between classes and especially eras of car.
