    Ah okay thats true
I can position it well enough to keep it stable. (Of course without glasses)

Yeah, I ended up going with lense inserts (magnetic) for my Quest 3 from VR-Rock. Pretty happy with those. Protects your quest lenses and no longer wearing glasses in the headset. Just had to be very conscious of remembering to take my glasses off before putting headset on. :)

Yeah I know, but my eyes are deteriorating at an alarming rate due to an Autoimmune disorder . So I can order some prescription lenses today but they could be send back the next day. :(

Hmm seems like the windows update has brought link cable to a halt ,the headset recognises it’s connected but it just sits there thinking with a meta sign and 3 dots flashing , but vd is fine

Works fine Here. Latest Windows update, so there must be something else going on.

Did some testing last night, and I found that my computer lacks just a little bit of power to run 90 Hz consistently with the image quality I want. I have GPU frame time fluctuating between 11-12 ms, so very near 90 Hz, but not quite.

I don't want to change settings all the time, so my test race is multi class at Monza starting in the middle of the pack in the evening and transitioning into the night, ending with heavy rain. I can tolerate a bit lower frame rate and some dropped frames in heavy traffic in rain at night.

Another observation I did was that SSW in Virtual Desktop has to either be always on or always off. Automatic, at least on my system, looks at total game latency, not just GPU frame time, so when game latency > 11 ms SSW turns on.
I have a game latency of around 15 ms even in daylight, so when using 90 and 72 Hz, they both ran with constant SSW at 45 and 36 Hz respectively...

So I'm currently trying to decide between 72 Hz with SSW off or 120 Hz with SSW on. Leaning towards 72 Hz to avoid SSW artifacts even though I don't find them too distracting. Another benefit of using 72 Hz is that Quest 3 local dimming is supported.

Current settings are H264+, 350 mbps, Ultra graphics in Virtual Desktop and SteamVR runtime. I prefer testing with SteamVR because of the performance graphs fpsVR generates. When I have decided on final settings I'll test OC + VDXR to see if that gives me a bit more headroom for higher graphics settings :)

Well Now I see problems as well. Since today the Quest 3 freezes while racing. I have it connected with the link cable. Don’t know what is going on but definitely not ok atm. All the time I had no problems whatsoever, now every time after a couple of laps. The Quest freezes. And I have to restart everything before it will function properly again.

Lol… just drove the whole evening in VR without any problem until the end, 2 times in a row a complete AMS2 crash. Never had this with AMS2 and the beta, but there was an update from the beta, perhaps that caused the crashes. Turned all of and done for today. Will take a look in the device manager tomorrow.

    Perhaps a wise idea indeed.

Tried another combo with 120Hz with motion smoothing setting - F3's at Monaco - to see how the motion smoothing works at low speed corners and didn't really notice any significant artefacts running like this. Think I'm going to stick with this setting

This is a very long chain, so sorry if this has already been asked.

pimax are really pushing quad views. I don’t understand what it is but it seems to have big performance gains in the very few games that use it.

More important question is, can it be implemented in AMS2? Or is such a challenge it s likely to be very low on Reiza’s list to implement

    thanks

It doesn't work. It'd need the game to be rendered differently.

When somebody buys the new AMD 9800x3D processor, please post what improvements do you see. When I moved from 5950x to 7950x3D the jump was noticeable. Things became buttery smooth and I had far less microstutters - I did not even understand I was missing out on this until I installed the x3D chip. Im still suffering with frame rate at night and rain and I know the bottle neck is the GPU (looking at both frame times), but that does not mean a CPU cant better help the GPU. For sure in ACC, but also maybe AMS2.

Just built basically the same pc and i love it coming from a 9900k. With open xr and the toolkit most settings maxed out except shadows on high with a full grid in the rain at night ill drop to 70 at the start until the field gets spread out a little but its barely noticable and goes right back up to 90. Really glad i switched to AMD this time. CPU barely gets warm with a 420 aio. I dont think ive hit 65c while gaming.
