It's just better for them to not give any estimations at this point, as those might miss their mark again.

I honestly think Reiza really thought those rough estimations would be somewhat accurate when they made them. Renato is known to be a quite a lot overly optimistic on how much work and calendar time things end up taking. In this case, there was also huge ambitions on what will be included in the update from the beginning and some of the things ended up taking a lot of calendar time to get done. The bigger the software, the more effort it usually takes to do any changes to it.

Is Raceroom arcade? I don't think so, maybe you haven't played it in a while or you haven't set up the game correctly. It's based on the same ISI physics engine as rfactor 2, considered by most virtual drivers to be the best simulation, and is developed by the same simbin team as gtr2. It has recently received major graphical updates and a tire model that makes it fantastic to drive, not to mention the incredible audio and circuit fidelity and the updates that are released almost every month for free. Imola is one of the last to receive updates, including the new 2024 escape routes with sand instead of asphalt, and it's a whole other thing to race on tracks that are faithful to reality. Unfortunately, it's a very underrated game. Gtr2 is simply an old game based on old, approximate and outdated libraries that certainly doesn't have the accuracy in physics of current games that use modern technology that once didn't exist and it was necessary to make compromises. Of course if you have millions of hours of driving gtr2, your brain will consider all the other simulators strange and therefore inaccurate, deluding you that the real simulation is only gtr2, but this is and will always be your subjective opinion since I don't think you can make comparisons with reality

...and? Some car track combos are not working, as per dev admission. I really don't understand what's so contentious about it.
The game is not broken or unplayable, but it needs some fixes and they're not coming. Surely you must see how that's not great?
I don't care if the new content takes a while, but I do care that AI does not wear their tyres.

Nach, it was "this summer" up to the exact last day of it. Only then it became "as soon as possible" with "no date, no delay" denial sprinkled all over it

Honestly I've reached the point where I've stopped caring. When it comes out I'll see what's what, but till then I'm not even thinking about it.
I hope Reiza learn from this and stay silent about future updates until a week before release.

I think most would be happy with drip feeding either screenshots or short videos to pass the time , I’ve been around from the start so I know how the timeframes work or don’t but lucky for me I don’t really care when it comes.
I was reluctant to start another championship offline as I’m waiting for 1.6 and didn’t want it to drop mid way through so I’ve shelved it for a bit and found fun elsewhere. I’ll return to it after the update.
Some of the posts and I’ll mention no names are verging on insanity just chill and enjoy life for a bit

I have to agree with majestic on some points.
This forum is very Reiza friendly, most of the playerbase is not at all as forgiving as you see here. Just something to keep in mind if you only frequent this board for ams chatter.

Not so friendly is an extreme euphemism and it's saddening, becuase AMS2 had so much good traction after 1.5 and LeMans DLC, but now it's back to Raceroom player numbers and everyone hates on it. It's not motorsport games levels of hate, but it really starts to be unanimous outside this bubble over here.

So when people criticize me constantly... I always take more time to do it very thoroughly. I'm pretty sure that the devs would communicate more often if the community were a little more relaxed about waiting for the update.

Stress creates stress. We are involuntarily provoking silence here.

Of course, these voices are right, but Reiza knows that better than all of us put together. This is just one update of many for a game simulation and not a world hunger conference.

As a user, you have to pay attention to every single word because it is put on the scales. As a developer, every word is observed with the James Webb Telescope.
I would also keep my mouth shut and concentrate deeper and deeper into the actual work.

they could just release a weekly set of screens and everybody would be happy. the fumbling of hype is really something that hurts the game.

cause with the latest dev update there it was, the hype, IMSA final around the corner, this would have been a bomb. and yeah, there would have been bugs, but that topic is so overblown by club members in particular, as if AMS2 is totally bugfree right now.

This is where I am at the moment.

It’s more than the update being late. It’s the inconsistency of communication surrounding it. Reiza was more than willing to generate hype during the spring — then go dark. Then generate hype again in September — only to go dark again.

Alpine is confirmed. Audi is confirmed. Road Atlanta is confirmed. For cryin' out loud, give me a video of a three-lap race around Road Atlanta in existing/confirmed cars only once a week, and I'd be thrilled.

The 1.6 update is officially late, no matter what others may say to the contrary. The update was advertised as "this summer." Then in September, Renato said the update was "weeks, not months" away. It’s been two months (to the day) since that post.

    A few observations:
    • Sims are often treated as “platforms” that have years-long content cycles. But the key to maintaining a healthy and engaged community is consistency. There's good reason other products have “seasons” and regular updates — because it keeps the community playing and engaged.

    • The 1.5 update at the end of the last year brought a lot of new players to AMS2. Like me! So this experience has been especially sour. I was unaware of "Reiza Time" and I’m not alone. This isn't the way to build community.

    • I want AMS2 to have an engaged, vibrant community because it extends the life of the product. Which is what I want, because I f’ing love the product. It's excellent. So for me, it's not just feeling teased for several months. It's the frustration of watching a great product squander an opportunity to build the type of audience that would open doors to even more content down the road.

    We’re at 8.7 weeks! :p

I am still playing AMS2 — and I'm re-learning a few things with a new gamepad. I've upgraded from the 8bitdo Ultimate to the Vader 4 Pro. The Vader allows me to tighten tension on the analog sticks (which helps with steering) and the improved haptics in the triggers are AWESOME.

The right trigger (throttle) vibrates at different strengths when I’m on the gas and pushing grip to the limit. The 8bitdo didn't have that, and my hands are getting used to additional feedback.

I put in a 2:09:XX on Road America in the McLaren 720s Evo, which beat the AI's top lap by a full two seconds. I'm thinking I need to increase the AI.

    Do you usually play controller?
Would you not grab a second hand g29/920?
I saw the Vader pro for around £50ish my 2nd hand g920 was £100

There is good reason I largely dislike the online gaming community. There's a lot of cynicism (which is understandable, there has always been a lot to be cynical about in the gaming landscape) but with very little care for the other side of the coin. There are a lot of bad practices going on in the game industry, but many of those making criticisms aren't willing to make the necessary concessions to make actual change possible to achieve.

One of the most common criticisms of the modern gaming landscape is that games/DLC are not released finished, and it's one I happen to agree with and one mistake I think Reiza are very much guilty of on multiple occasions. This is why my leash with Reiza is so long, because I've seen what happens when that mistake is made and it led to multiple track layouts being unusable in the public version of AMS 2 for a staggering amount of time. This was before the PC reopened, so I was just another AMS 2 fan and I can tell you I was very disappointed in Reiza at the time I didn't shut up about it for a year! I know I would've much rather waited a few weeks longer than being forced to not drive certain tracks because of a bug. I would've much rather waited another year or two for oval racing to be in a better state rather than it being released in the poor state it was in. I would've much rather waited a year for FCY's to... actually have a visible safety car. Obviously there are other factors at play that helped cause these problems to various degrees (public pressure, licencing agreements, self-imposed deadlines, etc) but at the end of the day it's Reiza's product.

I absolutely understand the frustration, having questions and getting unsatisfactory answers. Being extremely excited for something only for it to be delayed and pushed back seemingly further and further away (Nurbergring and Spa historic circuits are good examples in AMS 2's case) it sucked... But then the things I wanted eventually came and all that sucking became a distant memory. It sucks that I have to wait for historic LeMans but I know that it will eventually come and all this sucking will become a distant memory. I understand wanting to know the exact reasons why these delays are happening, but not only are the reasons most likely multifaceted and unintuitive, but most likely can misconstrued by bad-faith actors as development-hell/laziness leading to a bigger PR issue than if they keep doing what they're currently doing. It should also be noted that Crimson has given an answer about the delays in this very thread, may not be the exact answer one may want but it is an answer that isn't "it's ready when it's ready"

I hope it is understood that everyone's frustrations are very understandable and that my goal isn't to deny people's frustration. Just give a different perspective from a long-term AMS 2 fan and as someone who purposely does their very hardest to firmly stick outside of gaming spaces. Reiza has had a proven track record of delivering on promises made, even if they are late, so thus I feel they've earned the leeway to not have "optimal" communication, especially when you consider the amount of information us PC members are allowed to divulge. We can't really ask Kunos or Iracing beta testers about how the physics feel like we can with AMS 2 right now, not saying "shut up and enjoy what you have" but instead pointing out an area that I feel has been overlooked.

This frustration will end once 1.6 comes out, and it will come out. I think that is important to remember, it's what keeps my sanity when it comes to things like historic LeMans or music I'm hyped about. We can't do much to change when it will come out, the way I see it that while unknown, the date is already set in stone so all we can really do is hurry up and wait! That date will come... And it will be a very good day for those excited!

i am having lot of laugh these days reading all the comments here :D:D:D There is people hoping that this update is coming "soon" and other people saying "don't worry is coming soon".
Guys it's a game. It's a FREE update and will be out when is ready. Personally i have lost the hype that's why i have no more feelings about it but it doesn't mean i will not enjoy when is out. Live the life and play AMS2 as it is at the moment. In the meantime i still laugh :D:D:D:D

I live in a small home and don't have the space for a wheel, unfortunately. My gaming PC is connected to the same monitor as my work Mac — and space is at a premium in my home office. Connecting a wheel for racing and disconnecting it for work (and finding a place to store it during the day) isn't an option sadly.

I'd love to see data on how many people on AMS2, ACC, etc. are using a wheel versus a controller. I definitely feel like a minority out here!

Fair enough, I live in London so I know the small space situation. I've heard with a bit of setup it's great on controller, I may give it a go soon just to see how it plays.
