I resubscribed to iRacing recently to test out the rain physics there, and I actually like it quite a lot, aspects of it are better than in AMS2. Wet physics in AMS2 is one of many things that have been improved in v1.6, so I'm excited to see people's impressions when it goes public.

Iracing puts updates on a regular schedule but they regularly pull or delay the content in the update. Read their updates and you often see a "didn't quite make it" or equivalent which means content that was planned for the update but wasn't included. It's a different model but to say they never have delays is blatantly false. Rain was "almost ready" and "coming soon" for literal years.

Add dirt oval racing and AI racing to that as well. Good things happen when you let talented and passionate dev-teams cook, even if it takes years upon years.

The "rat" has shown some people the door out.

Please continue discussing the 1.6 release, you can state your dislike of the long wait and you can even make a point with regard to other titles, but please don't repeat yourself like a broken record to get a rise out of people and refrain from wishing the families of other people bad things, that's not welcome here and results in not welcoming you any longer to use the bandwith of that place! :) (And obviously messages initialized by these attempts to troll and further ongoing noise will be removed because the context would be missing)

    Cheers!

I think you are in the majority not the minority.

The historic content in AMS2 is what makes it stand out from the crowd, and personally I would love to see Reiza concentrate on that, because imo its what they do best.

If Reiza actually made a stand alone historic sim, concentrating on having a full season and grid with a single class I think it could be something truly special.

I thought i would add my thoughts to this i have always liked AMS2 and thought it could rival the big sims on the current market one thing I have always liked is the in depth updates writeups

I'm looking forward to 1.6 and in particular the ui updates.

Not sure how far along they are with updating Trulli, surely it's a bit late for a comeback? Then again, still waiting for Häkkinen to return.

V1.6 will come before Häkkinen ends his sabbatical, how's that?

That... improved hopefully, planes racing on taxiways on airports for sure. Actually, I like that idea.

Also, to make this post somewhat relevant before Crimson scolds me for being grossly off-topic as I often am: the Audi GT4 is I feel a worthy addition to the GT4 roster, it's still to receive some final tweaks before release, but it drives well already and feels quite distinct from its competitors in the class, it's fun.

So many planes, so many runways!

    What could possibly go wrong?!

I foresee no issues, overtaking will be no problem either, just reach Vr and hop over the plane in front, much more spectacular than DRS.

Relatively confident you will at least enjoy the GTP cars, not getting in the whole realism debate since I have no clue and people much smarter than I can not agree on things either on that front.

But throwing around the GTP cars around Road Atlanta while trying to avoid disaster on the curbs is at least to me quite a good experience, not easy, but it is a lot fun. Not a whole lot of sliding is involved either, besides the terminal slides that take you into a wall.

My only question is: Why people haven't done this already?!

Lack of imagination, or an abundance thereof on my part.

Edit: we need to get back on topic, we're ruining Rodger's thread. No more planes.

I was thinking exactly this the other day, only the opposite.

For me the only interesting part of AMS2 is the historic content, I don't like GT3's for example, but if I had to focus on them I would probably play another game.
The historic content is what made me buy this game and what keeps me here.

My wife has Xbox/Pc game pass so I can have a quick look for free but it’s not something on my radar. Admittedly the tech side of it is super fascinating.

iRacing is currently my number 1 due to the online/customization/car and track choice and NASCAR but I’m hoping AMS2 can start to give it a run for its money. The IMSA license is a big deal for me and having the majority of the cars and all the tracks is very exciting.

I don't think you're alone there. I'm also excited for the modern stuff as I think many people are. But if that is someone's focus then there are lots of games where you can play with modern endurance stuff. But if period tracks are so important to your immersion then you don't have many choices at all, it's a real USP of

Not all AMS2 players love vintage content, but all lovers of vintage content love AMS2!

The discussion only came up because someone asked what was of interest after v1.6 - TBH, stuff in the future I'm less hyped about so far compared to what's already known to be in 1.6.

Until Reiza deem us plebs worthy of a crumb of news, I'll allow it.
