Hi my wheel is a GT DD Pro, which I bought for playing GT7 in VR on PS5. I had checked that it had PC compatibility, so I would not be stuck with only what Playstatition would offer.

Now I want to player Automobilista 2 on pc in VR on my GT DD Pro.

I can configure different "in game" stuff in options, but I can't for the life of me find out, how to control the menus with controls on the wheel (hat stick and buttons). They do nothing and I cannot find a way to map them, like for instance in Dirt2.

Can anyone help me solve this problem or is it just a "tough luck" situation?

Please don't suggest that I use a mouse or keyboard - I am playing in VR, and even IF I was playing on flat I would not enjoy having to use keyboard and mouse for navigating.

I really want to start playing this game - it works great with my Xbox controller, but when I have a wheel and rig, I don't want to be playing with a regular controller either.

    Thanks in advance.

The PS buttons that are on my driving force gt just work to move around the menus I didn't have to configure them.

But, so far as I can tell, you can't get to every option so I just use a mouse on the desk next to it.

PC sims that do VR predate VR so there really weren't a lot of design decisions regarding the UI so you kind of got used to using a mouse by feeling around.

    Hi Michael3.

    Thanks for your reply.
Well that maybe so, but since Automobilista 2 is kind of a "service" game, with DLC still coming out, it does not seem unfeasible to do some updating of control schemes, to fit the current market need. And especially since it supports VR, I think a good brainstorm on what the VR user needs to be fully immersed would be in place.

I agree it'd be great if they continue to improve the UI and I'm sure they will.

But bear in mind that even though all console input devices have to support certain xbox and PS standards and have common controls. PC setups can have any and all different kinds of controllers, wheels, button boxes etc and in sim racing people are building rigs with various DD wheels that are not linked in any way with xbox or PS.

What do we have on a PC? A lot of devices that you don't want to use.

It might be possible in theory to make a UI for a PC sim flexible enough to configure practically every wheel and button box imaginable to navigate around and select everything and a UI that's perfect in VR, triple screens and single screens too and which you are happy to use the device.

For now though we don't have a custom UI written from scratch, we have a modified game engine from a different game and I think it kind of works with my wheel now mostly because that game was released on console. We kind of have to meet it halfway. It is, as I said, better than earlier VR PC sims in terms of the UI and the VR experience.
