I have done 2 races with very bad FPS in LFM (in VR). At the first race in Kansai I got this framerate almost cut in half. Now, I just did a race at Oulton Park Fosters and again FPS dropped to 50. The race before I did on Oulton Park International with a group A car I had a steady 90 fps without any drops. Are there more people with these issues?
Have you tried disabling triple screens as per this thread? Only done a few races but think this may have fixed a similar issue I was facing Performance Recommendations for 1.6
Can you guys give some more advanced reports? If you experience fps loss, please alt-tab, check your memory within taskmanager or so, screenshot, and upload it here. Thanks! Watching this thread now
Sorry not at my PC at the moment so typing this on a mobile device but I've noticed the minute you tab out of any game it seems to enforce the slowdown during the game. So in effect if you boot the game up go straight into a race without any other distractions it will usually run fine and liquid smooth for the first half a dozen laps then the frame rate starts to tank part way through, also if you at some point tab out or quit that race and go into another then straight away the frame rate takes a knock and it rarely recovers. A full closure of the game and reboot fixes it temporarily. System is Ryzen 7700x, 4070ti (12gb) , 32gb DDR5, CPU no higher than 17% utilised at best and GPU max 60-80% on triple screens at1080p, no major load on the system, I can start at the back of a 24-car grid which you would assume would present the greatest load and its beautifully smooth as stated for the first half a dozen lapse then you'll notice the left and right judder as you turn into corners , from there on your stuck with it.
Sounds the same as me - it definitely has the feeling of "game is not in focus, using reduced resources". I experienced it today and tried alt-tabbing a few times to see if I could get it back but couldn't. I hadn't noticed if it was CAUSED by alt-tabbing out, will pay attention for this next time. After 3 perfect races last night I had the issue again today. I ran with the performance overlay on and the FPS drops from my usual circa 90 down to about 50-60 in game (it actually feels lower in the headset). I did a quick task manager check, memory was at 50% (I have 32gb), CPU 30% (I have 10850k), GPU 40% (I have 3090, playing Quest 2 via SteamVR). When it's happening, interestingly the frame rate is at its lowest in the garage/multiplayer session info screen eg between sessions, where the frame rate was sometimes as low as 25. I've never seen this on AMS2 before. Would hate for some of the new LFM users to experience this and think this performance is the norm for AMS2 and not come back! I've attached the multiplayer log file in case it somehow helps, please let me know if can provide anything else to help diagnose this.
@Marius H I did the same LFM race later on today and the performance was fine - log attached in case it helps
Interesting, sadly I need triple screen support, seems a couple of people commenting on the vid also experiencing the same issue, in another post someone suggested memory leak , might be a starting point for the Devs to investigate.
After the request of Marius to makes screenshots and give info I did 2 races. 1 with the GT3 Gen 2 at Le Mans and 1 with the LMP2 Ligier at Mosport. At both races I didn't have any issues. At the first race there were only 22 competitors (combined) and at Mosport only 7. Could the number of competitors be the reason of the drop of the fps?
For clarity I should point out the slow down I see is in offline AI races , of which I only allow 15 visible cars to be drawn, I saw a suggestion that turning off shared memory seemed to have reduced the occurrence so will give that a try but that then removes crew chief from the SIM and that's for me something I find very useful.
Did my first ever online race yesterday (LFM) and had the same problem. Performance drop ruined my race. Performance never recovered. VR. Never had a problem practicing with max number AI grid. The only other thing I changed was changing from Full screen to borderless. Wonder if that could be related.
It's subtle but there is a performance hit (system dependant) going from full screen to any form of windowed mode, right now I have liquid smooth frame rates, I did the following, set up gsync (if applicable) and use vsync on the graphics card not in game, also try turning down particle density to low, worked wonders for me, worth a try. One other option is limit the max FPS to introduce some headroom so the system isn't running full chat constantly, do this in your graphics card control settings.
same here mate . Im sick and tired of fighting this .. i've been supporting ams2 since beta day dot and i'm just not playing it as much since this last update. absolute has ruined my fun because im had to become an it tech to work out why things are not working as they were before.
