Do you stretch the Fov somehow or do you use the racing helmet view. I'm using 0.8 and 0.6 here and I can already see a bar that makes the image look like 16:9. Especially in open wheelers. However, I don't have a second to concentrate on it in a closed car. The racing helmet view was slightly shifted at 1.5 and too high up. Have you corrected that? That would of course be great. Before 1.5 I also had the racing helmet with 0.8 to 0.3, so I easily set 1.4 supersampling in the setup.

You must run a very thick facial interface or have limited peripheral vision because when I was on Quest 2, I couldn't run anything less than 0.9 without noticing black bars on the side. My IPD is about 65. On Quest 3 I can't reduce horizontal at all without noticing it. Vertical I run 0.6, which I wouldn't want to go any lower.

I have taken the Pico out of the closet and run it for a couple of hours.

again, using the opencomposite single dll file method does work so I could activate openxrtoolkit.

i focused my testing on night conditions, race with 48 cars and 12 visible.
VR headset resolution 3300pixel/eye, in Game settings maxed out (everything...) and AA using SMAA ULTRA.

with no FFR, I am seeing between 9 and 10ms frametimes in FPSVR with the odd stutters when I have a car right behind me

with FFR set as Quality&wide, these frametimes are reduced to 8 to 9ms but I could still experience stutters.

last test was with FFR set at Performance&wide, all race butter smooth

honestly with the NEO3Link DP, image quality is great and my HW allows to set headset rendering high so it is a working solution for these Night and quite possibly Rain condition as well

I'm getting the odd micro stutter that was not there before v1.6. I can see my Cpu and Gpu time are fine in OpenXR toolkit which makes it harder to narrow down. I've tried everything but this micro stutter won't go away

I don´t understand this no more. I had done so much testing and finally got rid of the micro stutters, but today I made a offline race in daytime conditions with full grid (20 visible) and the stutters are back and more heavy, no stutter free for more than 10 seconds. Had plenty of headroom GPU (15-40%) and CPU (30-50%) the hole time. Nothing has changed since my last testing.

For those last two posts: you guys are on Nvidia, right?
Try the 516.59 driver: it is the only driver that sorted this out for me.

Thanks but I can't really do that, I'm also playing Stalker 2 which the latest nvidia driver has optimisations for

Are you using Oculus Tray Tool? For some reasons, when I set my "Encode Bitrate" and "Dynamic Bitrate Max" lower (from 850 to 500), most of the heavy stutters are now gone for me. Only some hicups from time to time.

Will try that version. I was on 560.94 for a longer time with no issues currently on 566.36.

If you're on in Nvidia take a look for nvcontainer in task manager and see what the utilisation is. It should be tiny on my 5800x3d like .2%. Sometimes it goes a bit rogue and it will be a 3,4,5%.If it does reboot and that usually that clears it.
It happens randomly on my system but it will give you a bunch of stuttering if it does. My PC will be fine for weeks then randomly do it several times in a few days.

The game seems to have an unconfirmed memory leak since 1.6

I have the occasional Micro-stutter in both VR and Triples mode, I also have plenty of headroom built into my settings. It's an annoyance but, can't say I've noticed it in other titles either.

This works for iRacing. Not sure about AMS2 but you can give it a try

I used ParkControl to unpark all my cores on my 5800X3D awhile back. No stutters here.

I've noticed I get quite a few random micro stutters on offline against the AI, nothing so bad I lose control but just obvious enough to notice them.

Hard pinpoint exactly but I think some are caused when there's contact between myself and the AI, certain tracks also have them happen in specific areas when doing a lap.

Glasses. Without glasses I need to run with .75 horizontal with my eyes almost touching the lenses to get rid of inner horizontal bars.

But I see better with the higher IPD of Quest 2, that limits the lateral view of screen anyway. So, I can run with really low horizontal FOV.

Vertical FOV I go for the lower settings possible to not loose the ability to check sides. Anything bellow .375 is bad.

But today I got a massive Windows 11 update, and I'm afraid to lauch AMS2... Lol.

I can't park a core of my 5800X with W11 even If I want. Tried a time ago Process Lasso to play around assigning different cores to some processes. And I give up: Rizen 7 and W11 does It better than any third part.

Was good when I played DCS in a Phenom III.

Honestly we should not be doing any CPU Park whatever stuff, the game ran perfectly before 1.6 ! The latest update broke the game performance and it is most certainly not a case of new shaders needing more performance.

I think the thing with Micro Stutters is that you are going to struggle to find the root cause. There are just a bunch of things you can try and they may or may not work.

Running the simplest setup you can is probably going to be the easiest thing to troubleshoot. I run it cabled, I use Oculus Tray tool to slightly trim my FOV and set my bit rate to 700 ( I got artefacts when I went higher) and I launch it using Oculus VR. I have HAGS off and have disable legacy USB devices.

99% of the time the game will run fine, when it doesn't, I check that HAGs is still off and the nvcontainer process hasn't started using more resource than usual which is usually fixed with a reboot.

The only thing I've really noticed since 1.6 is that GPU utilisation seems to has gone up a bit.

Same experience and conclusion when I did tests after 1.6 with my Quest2

now back to running the game with my PSVR2 and don’t really notice the drop in performance some people do expérience

It’s only night and rain conditions that are challenging for my user case and high end hardware

No issue here with ParkControl, Win 11, Ryzen 5800X3D. One click and done.
