No one said you had to. Doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't. Some of us do other things than play AMS2 on our PC's. I unparked my cores for DCS and other flight sims. I have no issues with 1.6, so maybe you should look into your PC problems and not tell others not what they should or shouldn't do. I see this same attitude from you on Reddit when someone disagrees with your views. Maybe back off if you have nothing of value to add to the conversation other than your biased opinion.

I don't mean with my post literally "you should stop unparking right now!"
What i am saying that it makes honestly no sense with how much worse the game runs after the last update even though there are next to no visual differences, to the point that this last update honestly has to be broken in some way. And my CPUs are already unparked, always were, and the performance is unfortunately just bad. If it had helped someone that is awesome and well at least for now it is a band-aid solution.

Here too, but all cores of 5800x remains unparked by default in W11. But I believe Intel users face a more agressive park cores issues.

My cores weren't unparked by default in Win11, even when using the performance profile. Anyways, happy with my system performance, but I also understand it's limitations, In VD, even with a 4080 and 5800X3D, if I set the resolution any higher than Ultra I will get stutters. I know someone who is currently using Godlike with low graphics settings in the game to offset the higher resolution, and is also complaining about stutters. Godlike in VR is too much for a 4080. Using Ultra and I have no such issues. With everything VR, there are always trade-offs to find the sweet spot for each hardware combination.

Agreed, for Intel users they have to deal with that p-core/e-core nonsense. I left Intel long ago and never regretted it even for a second.

Hi, after two years using triples I'm going back to quest 2 because now I can override oculus and steam vr with opencomposite.

The first question I want to ask is what camera settings do I use? Legacy or normal? Head movement to the max or not? I feel like I can't fit into the car cabin because the vibrations aren't filtered, but both legacy and normal with head movement are pretty similar to me. I want the best option to simulate ups and downs like a roller coaster xD.

Legacy is detached head if head movement at 100 and 0 attached to cockpit. Normal is attached to horizon but 100 head movement that car movement is more smoothed?

The other question is that I see the world and the cars too small. In openxrtoolkit I can change the world scale option. 115%-120% is what I put, but I don't think I can get the right scale. What settings do you use?

    Thanks!

I recommend trying these settings. Especially with Legacy Head Movement set to NO and Head Movement at 0, it will keep the camera locked to the car, but more actually locked to the track as it will filter out all horrible head shaking ! I still use G-Force effects because it gaves me a better sensation of braking and accelerating .

Just a side-step here guys, but I ran into a Pico 4 to buy for not a lot of money.
Now on a Lenovo Explorer: specs of the Pico are better of course.

But; is anyone using this Pico 4? How is it for you?

One thing that can help a lot of some stutters is set track details to ULTRA and cars details and reflections to LOW.

Why it works, at least here, I believe that is because Madness Engine stutters a little loading things. My GPU can handle easy shadows and track reflections in ULTRA, and is really funny the fact that If I set shadows to low-high in some tracks, I have big stutters that I don't have in ULTRA. Same with cars: a lot of changing LODs from medium-high makes me have stutters and low or even ultra was better.

    Strange.

Just noticed an issue with LODs.. Some of the GT3 gen 2 cars textures pop in horribly and pop right out and the distance for it seems kinda low. Some cars (i think corvette atleast) even has this tiny "area" of the distance where the rear lights textures just vanish all together, so i see through the holes of the lights basically.. confusing to say the least. The funny part is that i am not sure if this has happened before and my brain just realized this and cannot unsee it or is this a some kind of bug. Just feels so weird if ive been able to ignore it for 300h of gameplay. Is this a thing or just a problem in my end??

I have set vechile details to low, but i saw this issue with all the settings.

I DDU'd my GPU drivers and installed latest, also verified the game files through steam, but none of this helped. Now Im reinstalling the game.. Lets see how it goes.

Pico 4 here, fantastic for AMS2, i must admit i'm on a 4090 and i use the pico software as now for me it gets better results than Virtualdesktop. Using Ultra res and 300mbit transfer rate.

    Thank you @Jacopo Maria Colombo
I had to decide fast and I picked it up last night.
You are right; it does look good! 3080 here, but can't complain.
I use the first pick of codec, not the hvec one and when you do that, you can turn the bitrate up to 1000: that seemed to work better for me.
FpsVR does not work anymore, only in some menuscreen, but other than that: wow!!

    @Jacopo Maria Colombo

Sorry to bother you mate, but maybe you can help me out here?
For the FpsVR thing, I am pretty sure I have to get into those settings: the ones you alter from the SteamVR homescreen, where you can see all your games and click on FpsVR in the lower bar.
Do you have any clue as how to get into the homescreen of SteamVR with a Pico 4?

Anyone else notice that the open XR tool kit now works in oculas vr mode?
I could only get it to work in steam vr before or using VD.
Or is it just me that could not get it working lol.

There was a meta quest link update today.

I just got a brand new meta quest 3 and I'm a total beginner, is there any guide that you recommend to get started (pc connection, best setup for AMS2, what software to use, etc.)? Looking finally forward to taste a next level experience like this

    What spec is your PC?

To just get up and running use a cable. Have the Meta quest software installed on your PC.

Note I tend to glance under the Q3 and do things on my PC with a mouse if I can as I don’t keep the Quest controllers near by and hand tracking can be a bit hit and miss miss.

Plug your Q3 into your PC. Start the Meta Quest PC software, turn on your Q3. On the PC software look at devices check that your Q3 is showing as green, this means the link cable is working. Run the USB test, that will tell you how decent the cable link is. If everything is fine and if you haven’t already on the Q3 set a stationary boundary in your settings, Go into settings again on the Q3 and click on Quest link it will come up with a list of connected PCs (it will only be one called Rift). Connect to that. In the Quest 3 you will see a gridded image with a menu on it if it’s working. You can use that menu but I click on AMS2 in Steam on my PC. From the AMS 2 start options select start in Oculus VR. If you have set always start AMS2 in a certain way in Steam and it’s not Oculus VR you will need to turn tat off on your PC. It’s best to leave that off as it’s easier to switch between flat screen and VR

In the AMS2 settings map a button to recenter VR view.

Once thats working you can start playing with settings, but knowing what spec you PC is will help with that. You can do various things in different bits of software and they will vary in complexity but just get it up and running and stable first.

I always choose, “ go to desktop” once the link software is running. From there I choose which screen I want to see (I also have a triple setup) and then I see my desktop and fire up all applications I need. (Using my mouse) And the I click AMS2 in steam.

I have a 7950x3d cpu paired with a rtx 4080 and ddr5 memories at 6400mhz. Is the link cable included in the standard package or needs to be bought separately?

So with that setup you should be able to get some excellent results, I’ve got a 4080 super and a 5800x3d.

You’ll need to buy a link cable you don’t get one in the box. I use one of these VR Link No Lag Cable USB-C 3.2 Gen1 to Type C 100W/5Gb Black 5m for Quest 2/3 you will see a load on Amazon, it is worth reading reviews though as some aren’t that great especially when it comes to long cables and charging while using the headset.

Do you recommend the one you using or better finding one myself?
