Check if you have animate driver pos enabled, that should make it smoother

Hi there, did this update today, it asked me to update the .Net which I did, the app wouldn't launch, kept asking me to update .Net (which I had already done twice!) Eventually after uninstalling and reinstalling everything, I got SM to run...cool!....but...now when I launch the Telemetry Viewer, it crashes SM! I can launch TV individually by the .exe but not from within SM?

I had a look, and there isn't anything telling why the app doesn't start (but I fixed some defects that make the application crash :D )

Could also upload log.txt after you try to open telemetry viewer from second monitor app? If it is too big, then compresing it into a zip file should do it. :)

In the last 2 weeks I had some problems with the fuel calculator. I always set some margin (like an extra lap) and a percentage (9%) extra fuel. But even with these settings I ran out of fuel. What doesn't help is that the amount of fuel which is necessary is not so clear anymore. There is too much text.

I noticed another thing as well: Second Monitor used to read the duration of the race. Now I have to type it in to get the fuel calculator to work. Should there be a setting enabled?

Nothing has changed in the fuel calculator. For pre race calculation, it uses historic data for the car / track combo, prefering race session. If the data are off (i.e. only having qualification data), then the esimation will be off. For race, it uses the in-race fuel consumption.

Only few sims provide race length before the session is started (AMS2, R3E, ACC), some others (RF2, LmU) do not. For those, it is necessary to input the length manually (but it will be perserved for the class for next time).

Not sure what game it is you're running into problem, but one important note for LmU, in LmU, ingame, you do not enter the fuel to add, you enter the fuel you want to leave the pits with (which is honestly a totaly stupid concept, because the number changes all the time). So, if you enter just the number the app provides, you will end up short. So in LmU is better to use the blue bar indication on the fuel level, which always show the fuel level after the pits, and it is the number that should be entered in the LmU pit menu.

As for readability, I'm trying to figure a way how to improve it. But it is not easy, as there is aditional information, especially in longer races that have value, i.e. the estimated fuel to take at last pit, as if it is low, you know you can maybe skip a pitstop by some fuel saving. When you then throw something like virtual energy to the mix, it becomes a mess.

I use AMS2. But for me it doesn't load the race length before the session is started (but it always did).

Thank you for all your efforts to improve Second Monitor. I appreciate it.

For some reasons starting the telemetry viewer requires elevated privileges. Weird, as the app doesn't require admin rights to run.
I will try different way of starting the viewer in the next version.

It should work for AMS 2 (it works for me, so that's weird). Is it MP or SP? Could you upload the .log file?

And another update. I logged another file (easier to find since I only did one race today).
I had a 20 min race. Did a practice session (where I checked the amount of fuel (42 liters). Then I did quali and there race. SM didn't get the race length. I filled in 20 min. 1 lap and 10% reserve and still I had to pit on the last lap due to fuel. The log file is more than 5 Mb so I couldn't upload it. :-(

Had a look on the log. Most likely for MP the information is not (or no longer) available before race. There is nothing I can do prefill the data. What I will try to do is recognize MP and enable the race length persistence in such cases. So what you enter for track + car class combo will be stored for next sessions.

For consumption, there is something weird going on, I need to investigate futher, because from the logs it looks like the car moved 4km in 30 seconds, just at the begining of session... without any consumed fuel. Jump like these would definitely affect fuel consumption statistics...

Looks to also be a MP isolated thing, becasue I was playing SP AMS 2 often the last few weeks without such issues.

I will have a look to see if I can reproduce it.

I have pushed a small update that makes the conditions for discarding invalid data for fuel statistics stricter, hopefuly that will help.
Also the maximal log file size should now be 2mb, so hopefuly it should be possible to upload them now. :)

I wasn't able to reproduce it. Could you please upload a logs (log.txt and log_telemetry.txt) after you complete, and try to open a session that will not have complete laps?
