I've put together a list of the tracks used in the years (I believe) are represented by the classic F1 cars. I'm only counting up to 2001 as 'historic'. I've marked tracks that have matching historic versions for a given year in blue. Where historical variants that are basically the same, i.e. the length must be identical (but things like run-off, sponsors, pit buildings and grandstand's etc may be different, some more than others) I've coloured them blue* but added an asterisk with the historic version year it most resembles. Where the track is in game but has no appropriate historic version the text is in black. Circuits not yet in game are marked in red and I've put the number of matching years they're used in brackets (they're in the minority so good going so far!) This website is great resource for seeing where/when tracks were altered over the years: Home Anyway - here's the list: 1967 (FORMULA VINTAGE GEN1) 1 - Kyalami*(1976) 2 - Monaco 3 - Zandvoort (5) 4 - Spa* (1970) 5 - Le Mans Bugatti 6 - Silverstone*(1975 n/c) 7 - Nurburgring 8 - Mosport 9 - Monza*(1971) 10 - Watkins Glen 11 - Mexico City (7) 1969 (FORMULA VINTAGE GEN2) 1 - Kyalami*(1976) 2 - Montjuïc (1) 3 - Monaco 4 - Zandvoort (5) 5 - Clermont-Ferrand (1) 6 - Silverstone*(1975 n/c) 7 - Nurburgring 8 - Monza*(1971) 9 - Mosport 10 - Watkins Glen 11 - Mexico City (7) 1974 (FORMULA RETRO GEN1) 1 - Buenos Aires 2 - Interlagos*(1976) 3 - Kyalami*(1976) 4 - Jarama (2) 5 - Nivelles-Baulers (1) 6 - Monaco 7 - Anderstorp (2) 8 - Zandvoort (5) 9 - Dijon Prenois (1) 10 - Brands Hatch 11 - Nurburgring* (1971) 12 - Osterreichring 13 - Monza 14 - Mosport 15 - Watkins Glen 1978 (FORMULA RETRO GEN2) 1 - Buenos Aires 2 - Jacarepagua*(1988) 3 - Kyalami*(1976) 4 - Long Beach 5 - Monaco 6 - Zolder (1) 7 - Jarama (2) 8 - Anderstorp (2) 9 - Paul Ricard (5) 10 - Brands Hatch 11 - Hockenheim*(1977) 12 - Osterreichring*(1977) 13 - Zandvoort (5) 14 - Monza*(1991) 15 - Watkins Glen 16 - Montreal 1983 (FORMULA RETRO GEN3) 1 - Jacarepagua* (1988) 2 - Long Beach 3 - Paul Ricard (5) 4 - Imola*(1988) 5 - Monaco 6 - Spa*(1993) 7 - Detroit (3) 8 - Montreal 9 - Silverstone*(1975) 10 - Hockenheim*(1988) 11 - Osterreichring*(1977) 12 - Zandvoort (5) 13 - Monza*(1991) 14 - Brands Hatch 15 - Kyalami*(1977) 1986 (FORMULA CLASSIC GEN1) 1 - Jacarepagua*(1988) 2 - Jerez* (1988) 3 - Imola*(1988) 4 - Monaco 5 - Spa*(1993) 6 - Montreal 7 - Detroit (3) 8 - Paul Ricard (5) 9 - Brands Hatch 10 - Hockenheim*(1988) 11 - Hungaroring (9) 12 - Osterreichring*(1977) 13 - Monza*(1991) 14 - Estoril* (1988) 15 - Mexico City (7) 16 - Adelaide*(1988) 1988 (FORMULA CLASSIC GEN2) 1 - Jacarepagua 2 - Imola 3 - Monaco 4 - Mexico City (7) 5 - Detroit (3) 6 - Montreal 7 - Paul Ricard (5) 8 - Silverstone 9 - Hockenheim 10 - Hungaroring (9) 11 - Spa*(1993) 12 - Monza*(1991) 13 - Estoril 14 - Jerez 15 - Suzuka 16 - Adelaide 1990 (FORMULA CLASSIC GEN3) 1 - Phoenix (2) 2 - Interlagos* (1991) 3 - Imola* (1988) 4 - Monaco 5 - Montreal* (1988) 6 - Mexico City (7) 7 - Paul Ricard (5) 8 - Silverstone 9 - Hockenheim* (1988) 10 - Hungaroring (9) 11 - Spa*(1993) 12 - Monza*(1991) 13 - Estoril* (1988) 14 - Jerez* (1988) 15 - Suzuka 16 - Adelaide* (1988) 1991 (FORMULA CLASSIC GEN4) 1 - Phoenix (2) 2 - Interlagos 3 - Imola*(1988) 4 - Monaco 5 - Mexico City (7) 6 - Montreal 7 - Magny-Cours (6) 8 - Silverstone 9 - Hockenheim* (1988) 10 - Hungaroring (9) 11 - Spa*(1993) 12 - Monza 13 - Estoril* (1988) 14 - Barcelona 15 - Suzuka 16 - Adelaide*(1988) 1992 (Formula Hitech Gen1) 1 - Kyalami 2 - Mexico City (7) 3 - Interlagos* (1993) 4 - Barcelona* (1991) 5 - Imola*(1988) 6 - Monaco 7 - Montreal* (1991) 8 - Magny-Cours (6) 9 - Silverstone* (1991) 10 - Hockenheim 11 - Hungaroring (9) 12 - Spa*(1993) 13 - Monza* (1991) 14 - Estoril* (1988) 15 - Suzuka 16 - Adelaide*(1988) 1993 (Formula Hitech Gen2) 1 - Kyalami 2 - Interlagos 3 - Donington Park 4 - Imola*(1988) 5 - Barcelona* (1991) 6 - Monaco 7 - Montreal* (1991) 8 - Magny-Cours (6) 9 - Silverstone* (1991) 10 - Hockenheim 11 - Hungaroring (9) 12 - Spa 13 - Monza* (1991) 14 - Estoril* (1988) 15 - Suzuka 16 - Adelaide*(1988) 1995 (FORMULA V12) 1 - Interlagos* (1993) 2 - Buenos Aires 3 - Imola*(2001) 4 - Barcelona 5 - Monaco 6 - Montreal 7 - Magny-Cours (6) 8 - Silverstone 9 - Hockenheim* (2001) 10 - Hungaroring (9) 11 - Spa 12 - Monza 13 - Estoril 14 - Nurburgring 15 - Aida (1) 16 - Suzuka 17 - Adelaide*(1988) 1997 (FORMULA V10 GEN1) 1 - Melbourne (2) 2 - Interlagos 3 - Buenos Aires 4 - Imola*(2001) 5 - Monaco 6 - Barcelona 7 - Montreal 8 - Magny-Cours (6) 9 - Silverstone*(2001) 10 - Hockenheim* (2001) 11 - Hungaroring (9) 12 - Spa 13 - Monza 14 - Spielberg 15 - Nurburgring 16 - Suzuka 17 - Jerez 2001 (FORMULA V10 GEN2) 1 - Melbourne (2) 2 - Sepang (1) 3 - Interlagos 4 - Imola 5 - Barcelona 6 - Spielberg 7 - Monaco 8 - Montreal 9 - Nurburgring 10 - Magny-Cours (6) 11 - Silverstone 12 - Hockenheim 13 - Hungaroring (9) 14 - Spa 15 - Monza 16 - Indianapolis 17 - Suzuka The following would be the historical version of tracks already in game I think would would be cool. I've bolded some years just so that each year has a good number but ideally every year covered above could get it's own version as sponsors changed a lot during the 60's/70's/80/90's plus runoff designs etc: Nurburgring (1967-70 layout) 1967/1969 Nurburgring (1995-97 layout) 1995/1997 Nurburgring (1998-2001 layout) 2001 Spa (1995-2000 layout) 1995/1997 Spa (2001 layout) 2001 Monaco (1955-71 layout) 1967/1969 Monaco (1973-75 layout) 1974 Monaco (1976-85 layout) 1978/1983 Monaco (1986-96 layout) 1986/1988/1990/1991/1992/1993/1995 Monaco (1997-2002 layout) 1997/2001 Imola (1981-84 layout) 1983 Watkins Glen (1956-70 layout) 1967/1969 Watkins Glen (1971-83 layout with chicane/without) 1974/1978 Long Beach (1975-81 layout) 1978 Long Beach (1983 layout) 1983 Montreal (1978 layout) 1978 Montreal (1979-86 layout) 1983/1986 Montreal (1994-95 layout) 1995 Montreal (1996-2001 layout) 1997/2001 Monza (1974-75 layout) 1974 Monza (1976-78 layout) 1978 Monza (1995-99 layout) 1995/1997 Monza (2000-09 layout) 2001 Brands Hatch (1960-75 layout) 1974 Brands Hatch (1976-87 layout) 1978/1983/1986 Jerez (1994-03 layout) 1997 Estoril (1994-99 layout) 1995 Suzuka (1987-90 layout) 1988/1990 Suzuka (1991-99 layout) 1991/1992/1993/1995/1997 Suzuka (2001-02 layout) 2001 Silverstone (1987-90 layout) 1988/1990 Silverstone (1994-95 layout) 1995 Spielberg (1996-2004 layout) 1997/2001 Interlagos (1996-98 layout) 1997 Interlagos (1999-2010 layout) 2001 Buenos Aires (No. 15 layout) 1974/1978 Buenos Aires (No. 6 layout) 1995/1997 Barcelona (1995-03 layout) 1995/1997/2001 Indianapolis Road Course (2000-2007 layout) 2001 Kyalami (1992-93 layout) 1992/1993 Donington Park (1986-2009 layout) 1993 Hockenheim (1992-93 layout) 1992/1993 Le Mans Bugatti (1965-67 layout) 1967 Mosport 1967/1969/1974 These are the tracks used in years represented but not yet in game: 1. Hungaroring (9) 1986/1988/1990/1991/1992/1993/1995/1997/2001 2. Mexico City (7) 1967/1969/1986/1988/1990/1991/1992 3. Magny-Cours (6) 1991/1992/1993/1995/1997/2001 4. Sepang (1) 2001 I would add the following circuits even though their exact years might not be represented. There are F1 cars in game that roughly cover when they were used: Reimes (1966) Rouen-Les-Essarts (1968) Mont-Tremblant (1968/1970) Caesars Palace (1981) Dallas (1984)
I guess the tracks most in most urgent need of historic versions are: Monaco (1986-96 layout) Suzuka (1987-90 layout) Suzuka (1991-99 layout) These are obviously significant tracks in the career of Ayrton Senna, who (unsurprisingly!) is the focus of a lot of the historic F1 content. So maybe a Monaco 1991 and a Suzuka 1988 & 1991 would be the next logical tracks to get the historic treatment. Monaco was really where Ayrton most dominated, winning 6 out of 7 races in 1987-93. And Suzuka of course is really the track where the most significant events of his career occurred, from 1988-1991. If we were to stay purely on a Senna based theme then Donington Park 1993 would also be a good one, as it's considered the venue of perhaps his greatest drive. And we even have the cars to (try to!) recreate that famous day now.
I've updated Interlagos 1990 (with 1991 being the version to use for this year) as @Racinglegend1234 said, black text means a version of that track exists in game but there is no accurate historical version for that year.
It would be awesome if someone knowledgeable, could list the best alternative for tracks that are 'represented but not yet in game'. For example, Adelaide 1988 might be the best fit to replace Detroit for the 1983 season. Some of the Brazilian tracks may be reasonably similar in length and shape to other missing tracks? Just spit-balling ideas...
Pretty tough to be honest. I would go fo tracks in the same country at a minimum. For Detroit or Phoenix you could sub Long Beach. For Magny Cours you could sub Le Mans Bugatti (and at a push for Paul Ricard & Dijon). None of these would really work for me though
