"I can´t run Automobilista" - Official troubleshooting topic

Mouse, keyboard, shifter, pedals, wheelbase, no game controllers. I have zero issues with AMS2, iRacing, etc. I just thought I’d give AMS a try and while it shows my peripherals in the control menu there’s no activity. I’m reinstalling it now. I thought maybe it had to be run in some compatibility mode. If a DD1 works then I’ll mess a bit more with it and if I can’t get it going no worries. I do appreciate you for reaching out.

 

@CrimsonEminence Just for your info. Reinstalled and still would not work. Tried launching test session anyway CTD. Downgraded to v1.5.25 and it recognized my steering axis only. Trying to map any other button or pedals indicates Joy1 B59 same as v1.5.3. However, I could launch a test session without CTD (but no podium profile). Seems version related so for now I’m sticking with AMS2.

EDIT:RESOLVED
Went into Steam, Automobilista > Properties > Controller: set to “Disable Steam Input”. Was able to map Joy1,2,and 3 no problem and race(on v1.5.25, need to test v1.5.3).
UPDATE: v1.5.3 recognizes inputs with “Disable Steam Input” however if I’m in a session and exit to monitor I get a CTD. Maybe related to TH8A bug? I have a Fanatec SEQ/H and TH8A H-Pat connected. Anyway all good on prior version.
UPDATE TH8A Bug: Confirmed, I can run v1.5.3 and restart without CTD only if I disconnect my TH8A. Not a problem, I'll use my Fanatec shifter.

I just reinstalled windows 10 and now I can't run ams1, any ideas?



I did run the DXSETUP.exe in Automobilista\Support\DirectX\Install

I tried every step from the first post including deleting d3d9.dll which I guess is the file you're referring to.

 

Unfortunately still no luck.

EDIT: Just wanted to add that tried running Game Stockcar Extreme and it worked just fine so it doesn't seems to be a DirectX issue but rather a AMS issue.

 

Since you have a new installation you may be missing the proper runtime. This is a handy package to install them all at once if you want to give it a shot. I installed it on my system.

All the above are correct just be sure to run it as admin and give admin permissions to config tool too

 

I tried running it as admin as well but still no luck.

 

Ok I switched to W11 and now everything is working. Not sure why it wouldn't work on W10 as I had it running before for years.
