I'm just curious, does the game "move" the date or day for practice and / or qualifying? What I mean is, let's say I am starting a championship, and I select January 21, 2023 as my race date. I would be using real weather with no slots and normal progress. Does the sim move the days of practice and qualifying such that they are a few days before the race? The reason I ask is let's say on that date, (in real life) there was a heavy rain.. so the race would end up being in the rain. But.. if practice were held two days before, maybe there was no rain.. I hope I'm clear on what I'm getting at lol.. This has always had me wondering. Or is there some other "randomness" added to each date chosen if using real weather? Finally, just wanted to give the team another great thumbs up. I was without my computer for several months as we moved to a different country. I'm now set up with a new PC and starting AMS2 fresh again. Loving it! Regards, Jeff
I think... I think, prac is 2 days before the race, quali is the day before the race - I think that's what the devs have said. What's interesting is when I'm setting up a custom weekend, and I set the race date, in the menu it shows the quali date as the same date as the race. I use Real Weather, though so the weather isn't the same. So it leads me to think it's functioning as the devs intended. One is of course unable to set the date for quali or prac sessions. But what I see in the menus of course contradict that - it's probably an error in the menu, and it's functioning correctly regardless.
I always thought it was the same day, although I have never tried putting the qualifying time and race time the same to see if its the same weather. I put the different weather down to it being a different time of day rather than a different day. Can the devs clarify this please?
Would also love to know this. I usually hold practice very early, like 8am, then quali at 11, then the race at 2pm (assuming a relatively short, sprint-like format). I had always just assumed that all sessions took place on the same day since the interface only allows you to choose "Race Date" and not practice or quali date. Dev clarification would be greatly appreciated.
When you make a multi player server and choose real weather, in the lobby it shows the weather as slots, choosing the same time of day for each session gives the same 4 weather slots for each session, if it works the same way in single player then that confirms all sessions take place on the same day.
Then I don't think it is working as intended. I will do further testing, and report back. So firstly when making a custom event and choosing the date for the race, the date next to practice and qualifying is the same as the race date. When setting the same time for each session (I used Donnington national) the weather I got was different. Practice: light cloud, dry, 15mph wind, 58f ambient temperature. Qualifying: heavy cloud, dry, 17mph, 58f Race: heavy cloud, dry, 12mph, 52f I tried again on a different date and got, P: medium cloud, wet, 16mph, 52f Q: medium cloud, dry 22mph, 56f R: medium cloud, dry, 18mph, 52f So as you can see indeed different weather for each session but very similar, more like a different time of the same day then a completely different day. Also if you have a wet session any track wetness carries over to the next session but a little drier, puddles remain in places, again more like its the same day a little later than a completely different day. To me, either it's the same day for all session with some weather quirks if you set the same time, or it's different days with some weather quirks. Which makes it feel more like the same day at slightly different times.
