No new post from Renato in 6 weeks?

I know that Reiza mentioned earlier this year that they'll slow down with the dev updates. But i wasn't expecting a total m.i.a. from Renato, i thought that he'd at least post in the beta forums. That hasn't been the case in almost 6 weeks now.

Does anyone know if everything's ok? Is this a business decision, or health concerns for him, or maybe financial issues for the team? I hate throwing speculations out there, and I tend to believe (and of course hope) it's the former one, but i wonder what's going on.

The paddock club post linked to a few replies back was by Marius H responding to a similar question, and basically amounted to saying that everything is fine and there's nothing to worry about. There, you're as up to date on this as the club members are now.

I think we should start some sort of funny rumor like he got caught stealing cheese from the bank of Wisconsin or something. That way when he inevitably shows back up, he can have a laugh about it.

 

I know we've been told not to speculate, and I don’t want to speculate, but I just hope everything is okay for him, and that whatever is demanding his attention is something positive—not some kind of complication, whatever it may be. Because, like everyone here, I hold him, and the rest of you guys, in high regard —as much as is reasonable given the relationship we share, not personal.

i am quite worried about him, forget about the game for a moment... i hope he's doing alright and not going through any trouble, because he seems like an genuine nice person, and he deserves at least an positive praise for all the hard work he's done throughout the years, i'd imagine it's not easy. Renato if you'll read this, i hope you are alright.

 

I suppose Renato is alright but what is concerning is that if he's not available for whatever reasons, game updates grind to a halt. It does not mean that no work is being done behind the scenes, but no update in sight. Even for small updates to fix a few bugs or QOL stuff. Everything just halts as if the bus factor at Reiza was exactly 1. Though one could argue that AMS2 is largely "complete" at this point and that updates "can wait".

 

We all hope Renato's absence isn't due to a health problem. Everything else can wait.
But I just saw a tweet from Ian Bell that makes me think. We all know the good relationship between Reiza and Ian Bell, who licensed them the Madness engine from PCACRS2 to AMS2. And Ian commeted several times the good work that Reiza is doing with his engine. So I wouldn't be surprised if Ian Bell asked Renato to collaborate on PMR physics. Nobody could be more valuable that Reiza on this aspect and Ian knows.

The bottom line is that Renato and the rest of the team knows what they're doing. If it means radio silence here - no matter what the reason is - so be it. I trust them more than any "leak" or speculation as their decisions are made with more information that we're ever get.

In the meantime we still have AMS2 in a decent shape to have fun with and we'll get more goodness when things like career are ready. Those moments of no activity will make us* appreciate new releases even more.

*Excludes "I wAnT eVeRyThInG tO bE dElIvErEd NoW!!!111one" kind of people.
