SSW is Virtual Desktops version of ASW. Different name, same feature.

I use an Ethernet to USB dongle and can easily run my Quest3 at 500mbit while charging at the same time,
And yes, clean 72hz can feel smoother than choppy 80hz.

    Hi all,

    running triples ona 4080 super and a I5 13600k. Tried a quest 3 and wasn’t really overwhelmed.
The graphics where the biggest turndown.
Is this quest 3 related or do I miss settings or extra apps to up the graphics?

new to VR, just plugged in and set ams2 settings to max.
Only the resolution on the pc went from 1440p to 1080p.

I am also looking into getting my steeringwheel and/or buttonbox in a mixed reality. Saw some applications that can do this, so I’ll give them a go.
I think this cannot be done within the oculus app.

    tips are welcome.
    Thanks

How did you configure it? If you just plug the quest in and play out of the box, it's gonna look like crap.

    Actually, i think i did.

It's ot my headset so I don't want to unsettle the thing too much.

I adjusted the in-game settings to max or ultra. The resolution is set to 1080p.
I tried some settings in the occlus app with the visual multiplier but that didn't helpen much.

You need to watch some YouTube video's. The first thing you need to do is set the Oculus Debug Tool to a higher bitrate. You'll see a big difference in graphic clarity immediately.

Check this: Steam Community :: Guide :: PERFECT VR CLARITY GUIDE FOR AMS2 (UPDATED FOR V1.6)
You need 100% to modify the .XML file and the values in the oculus debug tool, at least the bit rate. The FoV you can adapt it to yourself. I personally configure some stuff differently in the debug tool (for example I don't do super sampling there), but the least you need is the 960.

    Hi,

I am using AMS2 in VR via Virtual Desktop (Quest 2).
Regarding the VR driving part, everything works more or less correctly, but I encounter two problems:

    • The 2D menus are very large and distorted (I set the Virtual Desktop FOV to 90% Horizontal, 50% Vertical).
    • The sky is detailed before the start of a session (when you are on the pit lane onboard camera). But as soon as I press 'drive', the sky becomes blurry....
Have you also encountered these problems and do you know how to fix them ?

    Thanks !

    • Set PARTICLE QUALITY to MEDIUM. If you have it at LOW it makes the sky blurry.

Changing the 2D window resolution in game will change the size of the virtual window in VR. Try a lower resolution.

Ah, I found ! [EDIT] It's Virtual Desktop FOV (90% / 50%). If set to default (100%), the 2D menus are good.
But I really need to limit the FOV for my FPS...

Thank you, but unfortunately, I recently had to switch to Virtual Desktop. I was using the Link cable, but since the last updates, it crashes constantly. It's really disappointing because it was running very well before. I had to downgrade the graphics to make it run smoothly on Virtual Desktop.

Ah ! I searched on the Virtual Desktop Discord, and the warping menu issue when using a smaller FOV is known. However, they do not support OpenComposite, so no fix is expected...

What works for me to have a stable link connection is to install the beta/Public Test version of the meta link app, and after a start my pc to kill every oculus task in task manager, start the link software, run a connection test, connect my headset, using this way i've been having a stable connection every night of the past week for several hours a night.

When I use the helmet cam, I experience a significant drop in performance (15%/20%). Do you know if there's a solution?

I didn't realise ODT doesn't work in conjunction with VD. Oh well, I'd take the squashed 2D screen then with improvement in performance. You could try the crop2fov fork of OXRTK but I would not recommend it

Use cockpit cam and crop vertical FOV instead

"How do you crop the FOV?"
