I've been participating in the time trial events recently and been enjoying them but I've noticed some cheating happening and it's a bit annoying. Ultimately I'm not here to call people out, instead, I think it's a gameplay issue that just needs fixing. 1. Salvador Street Circuit last week, I saw wall riding which in my calculations could gain over 1 sec. 2. Road America STT this week, it's possible to avoid the jump in the run onto the straight before the first lap to gain about 1/2 sec. 3. Ascurra RX this week, it's possible to make time by intentionally hitting certain embankments. Please fix issues like these to allow for a competitive environment. Some of these exploits have been used by people quite high up in the rankings.
1. Wall riding through T1 particularly (as bad as Ross Chastain actually, lol), and also hitting walls hard instead of taking turns. It damages the car a little, but not enough to matter. 2. Avoiding the jump prior to the lap, by driving to the right side of it on the entry to the opening lap (and keeping 2 wheels on the track), does not disqualify the first lap. The exploit is obvious because the initial speed, across the line on the straight, for the first lap is unattainable otherwise. I guess this counts as a cut, but it's before the first lap. 3. There are a few embankments that you can use as brakes. I didn't see anyone abuse this, but I didn't check all ghosts. 3/4 tracks of the last 2 weeks have had available exploits, 2/4 of which are being used by some participants.
Hello there, Interesting topic. Could you please add screenshots or videos? This would be helpful for my colleagues. Thank you very much. Marius
Hopefully you can see the amount of time gained by using these exploits. It's not my intention to name and shame people or get them in trouble, I'd just like to see the Time Trials properly competitive.
My colleague is aware of the topic. Thank you for taking the time and effort to record and upload the videos of those exploits.
Thankyou, also one more thing I noticed in that case: I've only shown the 2 easier things to record. The other exploit I saw being used is related to the wall riding. It's: Not attempting the corner to apex, but instead aiming to go wide and hit the wall and bounce or glance. This I've seen in a number of places, but I find description difficult because the corners aren't officially numbered in-game. On Salvador street: on the turn into the back straight, and in the turn into the front straight. In Ascurra RX the embankment on the exit of T1 and the embankment between the 2nd and 3rd last turn, on the decreasing radius turn after the back straight, you can go fast in there and use the embankment as a brake.
Sim racing is like a casino where everyone brings their own dice. There isn't much sport left outside of hot laps. rien ne va plus
