That's not just headlights / night setting in as time progresses? Headlights in mirrors are known VR killers (and still no setting to turn these off)

Hi, I’m not entirely sure what was happening in my case. I had up to now always been using the Oculus option in Steam to launch AMS2 ( I use a link cable). Anyway after giving up on AMS2 I’d been sorting out RF2 and LMU in VR running via Steam VR and then after playing around with that for a few days went back to AMS2 and out of recent habit launched it using Steam rather than the Oculus option and its been working fine. What I haven’t done is gone back to the Oculus launch option to see if it’s still screwed. Need to do that. The only other thing I think is different was that I had been running AMS2 fullscreen previously but at the moment its windowed.

As far as resolution is concerned in the Oculus link desktop options I’ve got it all the way to the right, but I run .90 x .90 to trim it down in Oculus Tray Tool at 90hz. MSAA I have set to the highest level. I’ve got FPSVR but I can’t ant seem to get it working in AMS2. i can see it on the desktop but not in the headset and it’s not picking anything up.

I’m in that situation where I’d like to go through and do some root cause analysis but also it's running perfectly now so don’t want to mess it up again :)

Have you installed the Oculus Bypass Detector DLL? If not, then choosing Oculus or SteamVR makes no difference as it always launches in Oculus mode. Only when the Oculus Bypass Detector is installed will it actually launch in SteamVR or OpenComposite/OpenXR (when also using the OC dll).

"Windows Library that simulates not having the Oculus service running and having the VR Headsets disconnected. It is useful for programs like Automobilista 2 that force the execution in Oculus mode if they detect them, making impossible the execution of the game in OpenXR runtime."

I installed the file but if steamVR is not installed, the sim run in VR-theathre mode using VD. With the .dll+steamVR installed, AMS2 run fine but in still in steamVR environment...

Sorry for noob question but why should one with Quest want to bypass Oculus runtime. Isn’t this the best for Quest?

For those with stutters I would suggest adding an exclusion for Control Flow Guard. Solved my issues. This was found to alleviate the notorious stuttering in EA WRC and I found it worked well (for me) in AMS2 also.

Click Start Menu and type CFG, then select Exploit Protection. Select "Program settings" tab. Select "Add program to customize". Select "Choose exact file path". Browse to your AMS2AVX.exe. Scroll down to "Control Flow Guard (CFG)" and put a check in "Override system settings" and set to "Off" as in the screenshot. Click Apply. If it doesn't help you can just delete the exclusion.

Here is a webpage with screenshots of the process if you get lost with my instructions.

To use fpsVR app requires SteamVR or if using OpenComposite/OpenXR it is required.

that depends on the usecase, i do VR livestreams, and use Openkneeboard to have my stream chat and other info, as well as some simhub overlays showing in VR, this needs SteamVR or OpenXR, as Oculus mode doesn't allow inserting of other software/overlays

That's what should happen. If you are trying to use OpenComposite then you also need to overwrite the openvr_api.dll in the game/x64 folder with this one, and set the default OpenXR to SteamVR in the Meta software (if using Meta Link)

fyi do not use the OpenComposite launcher. You only need to use the openVR_api.dll and LibOVRRT64_1.dll files.

This I did not know. I will have to take a look when I get some time. So now I’m even more confused as to why it’s working fine again, I think Oculus link may have updated in the last few days so maybe that helped, who knows. I’ve even got HAGS running which always gave me stuttering on my old 4080/5800x3d PC build.

    Thanks for the info.

There was a new update a few days ago and it seems to have fixed a lot of the connect issues with Meta Link, so that's probably it.
