Ok, I'm about to test that file with the modification you requested on my T300 setup.
I have a question regarding the Damper in the wheel software. I always feel like having damper at any level creates some sort of car instability on my belt wheel. Again, I haven't tried it on my DD (setup A) yet.

Is it ok to leave the damper off on 3.4 or do you recommend having some or even 100%?

Also, please check the attached picture. Do having spaces between the numbers make a difference?

You have to shut the game down, change the file and restart the game unfortunately.

    The spaces are important.
Have 0 damping at first, both ingame and in the wheelbase software.

Great to have you back, Karsten :)
I've just picked up AMS2 again after a short break, and very nice to have your custom FFB's to play with.
I've used Custom+ for a while now, but have switched to your files again to see how they work with 1.6, and so far it feels good :)

    Hey Toerstein!
Good to "see" you here agin too!
Old-timers club :) It's fun to delve into it all again, although my aim was to spend some time actually racing... I guess I'm too much of a nerd...

    Best,

    "rFuktor ? experimental 3.5"

    * Better guarded against loss of rack when switching between force feedback profile and driving crazy bumps (@carloscepinha ).
    * Hopefully fixes "out of pit stiffness" (@Leen-q).
    * Should be more precises reg. pneumatic & caster trail calculations.

REMEMBER: Start at LFB(low force boost) in-game setting at 50%.
LFB in this and 3.4 are "compression" and you won't like it at 0 or 100%.

    Karsten,
Unfortunately v3.4 with or without the modifications you recommended, did not work for me. Specially with the Low Boost Slider at higher levels. I started with 50, then 40 and all the way to 10. I didn't feel as confident as before like I did over v4.1 which I've been bragging about.

I lose control, the car gives up easily at my comfort push level. I know it shouldn't let me down at a corner that I've visited 1000 times before all warmed up. This happens mostly on GT4 Class and stick shift cars, but almost any car class I tried, gave me the same feeling.

I lost a couple races starting form the podium and in majority of them I lost control more than once and I was a mess at Nordschleife with mediocre results. I know that track like palm of my hand.

I feel like there's too much for the base to analyze and handle with v3.4 and the car feels very unstable.

Also, the values you asked me to change on v3.4 do not exist in v4.1.

I always pay close attention to the clipping indicator on AMS2 and I adjusted the FFB at the perfect level before trying the file.

Please note, the over/understeer feedback were very muted on v3.4. Those frequencies are also very hard to feel in recent files including v4.1. It's more of a visual reaction for me than a feedback you need to feel in the base. The car doesn't communicate with you when it's at the first stage of losing control.

Sorry for the long post and please let me know if you have any questions.

    Best,
    Sean

    Thanks Sean,

I will see if I can bring over more of the under/oversteer sensitivity from 4.1, so it can be felt better on the t300.
Was the center, when driving straight, feeling ok on that base?

Thanks for this perfect update, it has solved thr pitbox issue, i can feel the dynamics and the weights of my favorite cars like the Mini and Porsche GT4. Even so when it comes to a spin i can better correct it

    Thank you!
Yes, the center feel is manageable with adjusting the Low Force Feedback. But it definitely feels more natural on the lower setting (below 30).
It wouldn't be great if you can kindly work on the under/oversteer feedback. That'd be a game changer. Also, after monitoring the built in clipping indicator on AMS2; I noticed the perfect and maximum FFB amount you could go with is 76 on most cars. Even changing it to 77 will raise the clipping bar and it becomes more impulsive on the longer high speed corners. No matter how hard you push, 76 won't clip.

I'm about to try 3.5 after finishing my beer at 4am here in California.

Happy 4th of July to you and all the AMS2 fans out there

    "rFuktor ? experimental 3.6"

    * Grip loss as sensitive as version 4.1, but still blends oversteer loss sensation in.
    * Adjusted LFB compression. LFB should be ok in the whole range. LFB at 0 should be closer to version 4.1, and LFB somewhere 70-90% should be close to version 3.1.
    * Suspension adjusted slightly, and is influenced by FX slider too, to some degree.* Some other minor tweaks.

Again: LFB is "compression". Can be used up to full 100% without issues. 0% is no more correct than 100%. Try at 0%, try at 50%, try at 100%. Find "your spot" and adjust gain accordingly at each step, if required.

Why did you go back to 3.x from 4.x? You probably explained it, but I’m confused

    Karsten,
Does the custom FFB "change" the original physics of the game that the developers have built or does it only affect the feel of the FFB? I'm referring to the suspension, aerodynamics, differential and tire contact in the game.

4-series lost something in reg. to compression compared to 3.1, so it was more straight forward to go back and bring the things that worked well from 4.x over to 3.x.
I likely will name it 5.x as soon as that merging seems good enough.
3.6 should be considered the latest and most advanced of them right now.

Only affects the ffb output signal, unf. :)

This is quite interesting, when testing I noticed that higher compression made things feel closer to the 3.1 version and maybe that was what I liked about it, which surprised me, (less peaky?) and maybe I have to fight less the ffb even with higher forces.

I'm used to enjoy "more is more" and to use more detail less damping etc kind of settings anywhere and everywhere but in AMS2 with a powerful DD I've noticed that the DD can make things more "noisy" than what I'm used to.

I've also recently tested a @Danielkart V7000 Topspeed file and it's very unusual recommended settings for Fanalab... after Mikk Schleifer recommending it for me over a little healthy competition on time trials where he bested on of my world records...
I'm quite surprised that the V7000 files are actually variations of older rfuktor... and at first with those settings I was afraid I was feeling less of the car, the settings were pretty unusual for my wheelbase
(I never saw anyone reduce "Force Effect Intensity") and I tend to try to leave everything as default as possible everywhere. (I really hate tinkering if there was a "plug n play" option)

Another thing I noticed was many were recommending not leaving the wheelbase power at 100% and lower ingame, but instead using more gain ingame and balancing power in the wheelbase itself. (which does affect the feel of the ffb)

I was able to get Default+ to feel a bit better on this Road Atlanta bumpy track with zero "Game Damper Effect" and lower "Force Effect Intensity" and a bit of "Natural Damper" (wheelbase damper).
But my biggest shock game when I actually bested the WR again, matching Mikk Schleifer time and improving half a tenth on it, using @Danielkart recommended settings for Fanalab which looked completely alien to me.

The only thing I have with that file is that sometimes I wanted to feel the self correcting gyroscopic forces a tiny tiny fraction earlier because it was easy for me to lose the rear end under trail braking into Road Atlanta T1 on the 570S GT4...

I still feel like the 3.1 version made me very consistent and I need to test these new settings for extreme consistency but right now LFM is off season and I don't have regular daily online races with a post race laptime sheet to help me test while having some fun.

Now hopefully I'll go off to also test 3.6... but man you guys have been working overtime, this is insane advancements and trying to improve so much so fast... there isn't even not enough time to test ahah

What I've found from Daniel is that not only the custom ffb files but also there is 1 particular setting that has a huge impact in making the wheelbase feel cleaner and way less noisy. And also he did a huge work he has FFB wheelbase software setting recommendations for almost every wheelbase, with very precise instructions and settings for so many individual models... and a community of guys following these settings.

I've had a lot of bases in my hands, and I keep seeing people using the wrong settings, or whose in-game settings don't match the base settings. A lot of noise doesn't mean they feel they're doing the right thing, or just because the manufacturers recommend it. A lot of it is marketing to increase sales. Of course, every file is different and requires different settings. I can only give these very precise recommendations for a large number of dd/belt/gear/hybid bases based on my long experience and the opportunity to compare them. And thanks to a very small, older, fun team with a lot of experience (hi guys:D), and you apparently had the pleasure of working with one of them.

But I, too, reached my limits and realized that one file can't cover the wide spectrum of different bases. Incidentally, this is also the case with many other simulations, which is why there are so many different opinions. It can be perfect with Base A, but complete crap with Base B. What people ultimately prefer is up to each individual and not my job. I only pass on my personal experiences to bring as many users as possible to Ams2, because it deserves this simulation and is completely underestimated
