    Hi all,
I'm posting this as I'm seeing a lot of new players having issues with their wheels/controllers not working or the game not saving settings changes they've made. Hopefully this will get pinned so people can see it when they enter the discussions here.

    1) Your wheel or controller MUST be connected, powered up and completed any self calibration BEFORE you launch the game or it won't be detected.
It seems AMS2 only runs peripheral detection during the initial loading phase, this sadly also means that if your whee/controller loses connection or gets disconnected you'll need to restart the game for it to work again.

    2) To manually assign the steering and pedals you MUST turn and recenter the wheel and press and release the pedals or buttons in 1 second or less.
If you pull and hold the steering in place nothing will happen.
if you pull and recenter too slowly you'll see the "Multiple Inputs Detected" error message, try faster.
Likewise the pedals a quick press and release is all you need.
You then NEED to calibrate the wheel and pedals to get the game to recognise the full range of motion in each control.

    3) If your wheel doesn't have a dedicated profile try using the "Custom Wheel" profile or "Generic Direct Drive" (if using a direct drive wheel), or for older wheels try the "Legacy Wheel" profile and manually assigning ALL controls as in point #2 above.

    4) If your settings are not being saved?
Go to Settings on your PC.
    Privacy & security.
    Virus & malware protection.
    Ransomware protection.
    Select "Manage ransomware protection."
    Disable the folder control option.
Bear in mind this is a security feature so only do this if you absolutely need to.

    5) Another potential cause of settings failing to save (I've had this 3 or 4 times myself) is Windows for some unknown reason changing the AMS2 documents folder to "Read only" after a windows update.
To check if this is the cause of your chnges not being saved and resolve this issue?
    Open Windows Explorer.
    Goto Documents.
Search for "Automobilista 2" and right click on it.
    Goto "Properties".
In the "General" tab at the bottom look at the "Attributes" area and ensure the Read Only box is unticked or has a - symbol in it.

Hopefully Reiza will pin this and we can gather all the solutions to controller/ wheel issues in one place and save people the hassle of having to wait till someone who knows these workarounds posts a solution.

Hope this helps anyone having these problems and saves new players a lot of frustration that can be avoided with the information above.
    happy racing peeps!

A side note for CSL DD:
To calibrate wheel to match on screen wheel.
Turn wheel 100 % to right, hold it there, click save still holding wheel. Then turn wheel left to display 1080 degrees, hold and save.

Is there a way to unbind controls? I have a Logitech G27 wheel with Fanatec pedals and everything has been working for a long time until today. I have no force feedback anymore (only in AMS2). The reason could be that yesterday evening I mapped my Xbox-Gamepad (throttle/braking and steering) as secondary option and this must have caused the trouble (as it's the only thing I was changing).
So I want to eliminate the secondary mapping but there is no option for "unbind" or "delete mapping". Any ideas (without having to reset everything to default and having to remap my wheel and pedals again from the beginning)?

Currently there's indeed no method to clear a mapping. I would workaround this by using one of the mappings you already use. Bind the button to the secondary mappings you want to be removed, one by one. Finally bind the button again to the correct mapping/bind.

Thank you for the very fast answer. I will try it. Do you think this could be the reason why I don't get ForceFeedback anymore? It was the only thing I changed (in the Beta) and in the "normal" (non-beta) version (where I didn't change anything) it works as usual...

I believe backspace key should clear it.

@Mike1304 Could be as the game perhaps confused FFB-perhiperal and a controller, which both have different configurations under the hood.

@B Stu Gonna try that. If I recall it does indeed. Some vague memories about clearing a mapping.

Thank you guys for your help! Much appreciated! Marius' workaround helped and indeed the force feedback problem is gone!
Can't say how much I enjoy this sim (in VR of course ;-))! Great work!!!

Question for Reiza: Is it possible to add the peripheral detection every time the main menu is entered? My Thrustmaster T598 still loses the telemetry-conection after every race - the only workaround is to restart the game. Thrustmaster support says: Must be an AMS2 problem since no other game has this problem.

    Hello,
I'd like to know if you've ever had a problem like mine?
I have a different base for the crankset. When I configure my T818 with the Thrusmaster settings, I get FFB, but my crankset is recognized with the same AXIS X+ reference. So when I accelerate, I turn right at the same time. I tried the custom mode, and everything works, except I don't get any force feedback in the steering wheel! Do you have a solution?

I will so you don't have to:

    @moise

    Hello,

Could you please provide more information, such as screenshots of your drivers and AMS2 settings? Also, have you checked whether your pedals are set to 'Separated' rather than 'Combined' in the Thrustmaster driver?

    Thank you,
    Marius
