WIth my setup I am struggling with performance (see my rig in my sig). All on Low setting. I can race with about 15 cars but not with rain or changing weather and only on some tracks with not too many trees. I am thinking about to upgrade my graphics card but keep my processor. Will this help performance substantially? Many thanks for your inputs and advise.

Definitely will help. Techpowerup can be helpful (not an exact science) to compare card performance.
    NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Specs
Check the relative performance table above.
Personally I'd suggest at least 16GB vram.

    Your cpu is good
Just a gpu upgrade will do

here’s a tip fov advanced setting for VR
In steam fov move left & right fov to 89
Then up & down to about 60
Then reduce your resolution in steam
( ams2 specific ) to about 50% of what it was

the view is like wearing a race helmet

    Go into steam inside headset
Click on per application ( I think in video )
Then look for fov I think it says letterbox but make it advanced options then the sliders will become available

not near my pc so I can’t be very specific but have a fiddle , it’s there

It’s getting me by until the 5080 super gets released , I actually like the black border along top & bottom in vr now + I can have a higher res super sample yet the gpu is working much much less win win

Ah now I think this is by using the OpenXR Tool Kit I guess?

    no it’s in steam VR
OpenXR toolkit is good but it doesn’t do this correctly in ams2 using its own fov method
    ( it does for MSFS 2020 )

I am gpu limited too, awaiting 5080 super,
    These tactics are great option

I assume you’re using steamVR for your headset ?

a bit of fiddling in steam vr it’s not hard to find & enable the options

Ah then you meant its inside the VR view and not on the screen within the Steam App.

I looked last night so I could give instructions but glad you’ve found it

88 at sides I find is best ( do 88 on all 4)
Then Go in as much as you can top bottom like 65 top 65 bottom , reduce the res after to a much lower figure ( as less space to fill) like 2100x2200
    All will be good
