This is exactly the best way to do it. I would also recommend a second network card to bypass the router.

I don't know how and I don't know why but today I uninstalled some apps that I no longer used or that maybe I never even used and Automobilista 2 works perfectly even in VR.

Apologies. That post was moved into this sub-forum by the mods. It was a reply to a different user in another thread and had nothing to do with VR. (I've never played this game in VR and don't really know any specifics.)

For those with NVIDIA GPUs RTX 2000 series and newer, it allows brute force downsampling while leveraging the machine learning enhanced upscaling hardware found on those GPUs. In my case, I use a RTX 3080 to run the game at 5120x2880 (while only incurring a performance hit associated with a resolution closer to native 4K). The driver downsamples the final image out to my 4K display and is a much more effective at reducing temporal instability than the included MSAA or SMAA. It results in an image the more closely resembles the quality seen in photo mode (and is particularly helpful with shimmering artifacts on chain link fencing and power lines).

    a. so does this mean you don't use any MSAA or SMAA at all?
    b. why did you choose those specific values 5120x2880?

You initially asked about the resolution of his headset and have now changed to monitor.

Can anyone recommend the optimal Nvidia Control Panel settings for improving performance with a RTX 4080 while running a Pimax Super headset

When using DLDSR, I disable MSAA (as the vram usage grows with input resolution). I usually leave SMAA enabled as it does often help with temporal shimmering. The result on screen is closest to the Supersampling feature already available within AMS2, it just has a lower associated performance cost than rendering the higher resolution natively.

The resolutions you use with DLDSR are directly tied to you main display's native resolution. In may case, my screen is 4K (3840x2160). Currently, DLDSR can downsample from resolutions that are 1.78x and 2.25x larger than your native resolution. For 4K, a 1.78x boost = 5120x2880 and 2.25x boost = 5760x3240. The game clients runs in exclusive fullscreen mode (or if you use borderless, the windows desktop resolution must bet set to a DLDSR resolution before launching the game).

DLDSR works with most games (though I have encountered some that get incredibly crashy when moving beyond 5K and vram demands explode as you move over 5K). Until AMS2 gets a massive overhaul to its renderer and allows for temporal antialiasing and native DLSS/FSR/XeSS support, downsampling will probably be the only real solution for temporal shimmering.

Hello everyone, I’m having an issue with OpenXR Toolkit... I’ve always used it together with the OpenComposite Runtime Switcher and never had any problems. A couple of hours ago, I noticed that SteamVR updated... shortly after, I launched AMS2 as usual but immediately noticed it felt slightly more choppy than usual. I tried to open the OpenXR Toolkit in-game menu, but nothing happened... I rebooted the PC and the error you see in the screenshot appeared. In the end, I realized there’s no way to start OpenXR Toolkit anymore—it only works with SteamVR... After a quick online search, I tried both Safe Mode in the OpenXR Toolkit and even reinstalling it (but nothing changed), and I also checked the SteamVR settings menu; for the OpenXR API, I only see SteamVR... is that normal? Additionally, the log file shows that error you see in the image... could this be caused by the update? Thanks in advance!

I'm using the PSVR2. I have been hesitant on trying the eye tracking out as I have my VR settings perfect and I'm scared to change them!

    Fair enough

I am flying back home this weekend so if no jet lag I will give it a try

I am really surprised by not having received any PSVR2 owner feedback as I thought the share of that VR headset had increased amongst Simracing community

thank you for such a clear and comprehensive reply, I greatly appreciate it. As well as being interested in VR performance, I also have a 4k monitor so these suggestions are most welcome too.

Let me know how it goes. I am interested in trying it out as I have been recording a lot of my gameplay recently and my system struggles to record decent video on certain tracks (namely Daytona).

If I turn off the wifi in the hmd the VD doesn't see my PC that I don't understand. I would use the LAN cable with USB converter but I can't because of it.
