In all the “simulation” games I own, I’ve already logged thousands of hours. I know moderators don’t like comparisons to other titles, but I have to use them to make my point clear. Have you ever driven a race car equipped with proper racing traction control? As it happens, I know someone who designs these systems and sells them worldwide.

The way TC works in AMS2 is much closer to real life. Its purpose is to reduce wheel slip while still transferring as much power to the wheels as possible and that’s exactly how it feels in AMS2. For example, in Raceroom or ACC, once there’s significant slip, the power just gets cut, and the behavior is more like an ESP system. That said, I have to praise the force feedback and TC in the latest hypercars, because there it actually feels great.

As for GT3 cars, do they slide? If you had played more than a year ago, you probably would’ve cried. In the current stage of development, the cars feel glued to the track compared to how they handled a year or two ago.

I won’t comment on multiplayer since I usually race in other games. What really bothers me, though, are the oversights from the 3D design team. They often create very poor car models, and at the end just throw something together, reusing old flaws. For example, the low-resolution font in Racelogic displays, the nav systems, and steering column geometry when you disable the wheel in cockpit view. Many of the older cars still have very low-quality instrument clusters, which clash with the otherwise high-quality dashboards.

I know most people would call these details “nitpicking,” but unfortunately, I have OCD and can’t help but notice them.

I also have mixed feelings about the sound. Even on the low setting, there are too many overlapping effects, which mainly becomes a problem at race starts with a large grid. It’s a shame there’s no brake disc squeal, even though the sound file exists in the game, and I also miss the ABS pump noise under heavy braking. From the cockpit camera, the engine sound feels a bit too soft, it’s missing that “bite.” But maybe that’s just me.

There are lots of small issues that bother me, but I still always come back to AMS2. It’s like an old pair of perfectly broken-in shoes, I don’t have to think, or re-learn anything. I just sit down and drive.

I have a lot of time and play 330h already ? Online simracing work only if you live in europe. So if you are from australia, asia and america, the experience is very less fun. Lobby are very low player count. And i don’t like iracing

LFM already provides that though ? I don't think putting more dev time to what already is provided externally won't suddenly quadruple the player counts. I personally only ever race and only ever would race in leagues when it comes to the online aspect of AMS2. I tried LFM a few times and there are zero driving standards and half the people drive like it's wreckfest.

What i think the game needs more is AI improvements and fixes that i have mentioned on a different section that were discussed in depth and addressed, just unfortunate that it will take probably a long time to get to the bottom of what the fix might be - the problem being the AI wiggle bug ruining pretty much every AI race.

The thing that would make online races much better for ME personally is the ability to join at ANY point, especially once qualifying is over, or heck let us join online like iRacing when you can be in the race a lap or more laps down starting from the pits, instead of just not participating at all ! Crucial for leagues.

    For competitve multiplayer.
Iracing is the only one that is active for anyone.
Le man ultime is active at a specific sweet spot at 12pm to 5pm usa time zone. After, it drop from 4500 players to 1200 players.
The rest of the sim is empty

For the multiplayer, I truly believe a reorganisation of the p2p/dedicated server multiplayer portal and a seperate portal (in game) to access something like LFM would really push multiplayer up, putting it in front of every player without leaving the game. Nothing groundbreaking (he says with no serious programming experience). If the team somehow found a way for us to use custom liveries online.....now that would probably be icing on the cake :D

Polls clearly show that the vast majority of players do not participate in multiplayer. The multiplayer users are just more vocal and dedicated to their belief that they are the majority. AMS2 was always focused on single player over multiplayer and there has been a huge number of hours put into the AI development and single player experience. As of late they have focused a lot of time into stabilizing the multiplayer experience, but an online ranking system is never going to be the focus. The end goal has always been a career mode for single player users.

When you don't have plans to offer proper built-in ranked racing service, it would be beneficial to be able to integrate in-game to third party system that is doing it. I have a feeling that, unfortunately, this too big of a technological challenge and would be too much work from Reiza to do it.

Devs of LMU and rF2 kinda did it like that, as their MSG's "race control" is in a way, separate entity, it's just not third party. I think ACE is doing it in similar way now or something like that.

Could it be how much fuel you need for one lap?
    Where did you drive?
