I believe you just need to compute for vFOV (ex. I used the formula posted by GTSpeedster) and that's what you enter in AMS... then of course do the seat adjustments in-game. It's with R3E, ACC and rF2 where you would need to input the other parameters (ie. distance from eyes, monitor width & height, etc.).

Also, my taskbar doesn't show up in-game, either when full screen (ACC & R3E) or borderless window when I use Simhub for rF2.

indeed, just checked. The taskbar stays visible, only on my centre screen. No problems for me as it won’t show up ingame.

I'm trying to calculate the hFOV on my triple screen setup, and am getting some unexpectedly large numbers.

I went back through the calculation a few times, and noticed that you have FullDeviceWidth of 97.7cm. Is this for all 3 screens? I tried that, and end up with a WAY larger number than what you have. I have 3x27" 16:9 screens. The full device width minus the outside 2 bezels is 183.3cm. It sounds like you're using half this? Did I miss something here?

    Heres my numbers for reference:

    number of screens: 3
    device width: 183.3cm
    height: 33.6cm
    distance to screen: 55.88cm

And this is the result I'm getting based on my calculations:

    Vertical FOV: 33.5°
    Horizontal FOV: 351.8°
    Screen Angle: 117.3°

As you didn't mention it, I'm not sure how you computed the values, but I'd suggest using the formulae here. When you get your hFOV, divide that by 3 and enter the value in Options->Camera.

Good find, easlier and got similar results too!

Good luck homeschooling! Surely will open up a lot of stuff to re-learn. :D

I used the formula from this thread, which you linked to as well.

So I take the hfov and divide by 3?

Thanks for the article. Why are you against View to Apex? Isn't that entirely natural and without head/eye tracking makes sense to use that??

    Can't agree more...but :

    WHAT ????

No sir, calculators are giving you the result you are looking for, plain and simple. And as you said in my previous quote, FOV is NOT a matter of opinion, taste, preference, religion, libido or dunno what : it is what it is, a Field of View that have to be as it should in reality.

Far from being that true, 21:9 and 32:9 are perfectly viable options. IMHO, 32:9 is even superior due to ease of use, of course you can "see" more of the field with triple screen BUT there are a lot of very important drawbacks you can't deny like the nightmare of its management (not only within windows and the retarded surround nvidia setup), you also have to deal with screen calibration (3 screens not calibrated the same way won't be really "perfect" if you ask me), cable management (nothing to add, self explanatory) and physical restrictions (perfect alignment, perfect angle setup, bezel across your view, etc...). No, triple screen is not the best solution, it is a very solid and valid one but you can't decide it is the best without taking into account its HUGE drawbacks. And I didn't even mention the fact that a $5 000 computer can do something else than play ACC...and even if it was only for simracing, ACC is only one title, there are many sims out there and all of them have their needs when dealing with triple screen. It is not an easy setup for a single game, it becomes a fuc...nightmare when you use other sims.

Of course it does, why are you affirming it doesn't ?

Sight being the only true clue you should follow when driving at limits, I agree.

I didn't read anything, your first part left me with clear disagreement so I replied to what disturbed me.

    Regards

No  all sims work well with Surround only missing a seat tilt in R3E and AMS otherwise perfect from sim to sim.
I'm still yet to have an issue with Surround if I stay in sim racing!
Once set ut is forget, yes it did take a while to get right but once it is its golden and I don't even notice the bezels ;)

As far as I'm aware, both AMS 1 & 2 allow the user to tilt the seat (viewing) angle up and down.

Or are you referring to an audio setting? If so, sorry for the confusion.

Yes AMS2 has seat tilt but R3E and AMS 1 don't have this for triple users. Both can be done on a car by car basis but it's a matter of exiting the game and making adjustments in files (a real pita especially for R3E).

Got a reply today saying it's being worked on but some seemingly easy things sometimes aren't as easy as they seem! At least it should come sometime in the not so distant future.

That sounds wonderful. Let's hope it won't take too long. I like RRE.
