As the title says, I'm wondering if this will be implemented in some way in the future. I know the Project Cars 2 had something similar and Assetto Corsa Competizione has this feature to. In my humble opinion it's a great thing to have for the more novice or casual player. The aforementioned games make their driving more accessible for the average Joe. Is this something that is already in the game and have I simply missed it or is it planned in any way?
I was really wondering about this. By default, how stable are car setups and their intent? Are DEVs thinking that in order to properly drive cars some setup is required? Because at the moment I'm finding driving cars extremely difficult and this includes not even driving them hard. It's like the car setup is extremely off and they expect you to do some type of tweak just to get a somewhat drivable car.... I don't mind messing with the setups to squeeze out a few extra seconds at the end of the lap but i really don't like having to tweak a car just to get it around the track stable either....
there must be something wrong with your pedal or wheelsetup. Or you The default setups of the cars ar way better than that of pCARS2. I really found no really bad setup and while beta we had only the defaults, not custom settings possible. I and many others here get in and drive. The only culbrit currently are the sensitive brakes. You have to be real smooth, not hard like in some F1 or GT3 sims. Depart of this i have the same fun with cars and tracks like in RRRE, AC or ACC BTW. Did you check the air and track temperatures when going on track? If you use current dates, this will be around 20 degrees or much lower and then your car could feel like on ice. Set your weather to summer season, check if temperatures are around 35 degrees centigrade and try again
In the UK the ambient temperature rarely gets to 35 centigrade, so setting the ambient temp high is about as irrelevant an answer as it's possible to get. It should NOT be about such esoteric tweaks that make the game playable, it may be ok for YOU, but try to consider the other players in the game.
Well not picking sides but if we're referring to simulation I do understand where temps can affect tire temps and grip levels. I'm OK with that. If setups require only minimal adjustments to let's say tire PSIs and tire types for the different scenario and the car's raceable, then i think the majority would be happy with this....
Ambient temperature no, but track temperature yes. Asphalt is dark in colour, absorbs the suns rays, and is therefore a significantly higher temperature than the surrounding air on a sunny Summer's day. Even here in the UK. If simulating proper weather and track conditions and their affects on cars and traction is "irrelevant", then what's the point in being able to change anything at all? You may as well go and play R3E with it's constant "perfect" racing conditions.
unfortunately in a sim that cares for temperatures, the grip is dependend on tire temps. You can say its a bug, that we can have very low temperatures in this game and the default setups are made for good track temperatures, not for something under 20 degrees. You would need other tires that arenot in the game currently. Either we have the perfect racing condition, then we are not dependend to tire settings or we have an enhanced system, where you have to care for that. So you have to live with that as we speak. So no blame on someone, that he is to dump to drive, it was only a suggestion to look at some environmental things to understand what could be wrong.
There is a big difference between workarounds and what works for an individual and how the default game should run. If it's necessary for players to go to extremes just to make it playable that is what breaks the game and those workarounds become an excuse and not a solution. It also strikes me that there is an illogical aspect to these workarounds as well. If you need to increase track temperatures so your tyres allow you to keep up with the Ai, then the Ai must already be using grippier tyres than the ones you have access to.
I'll bump this up a little as I reckon the idea is great and community could contribute if some sort of organised place was put together, not only for basic setups, but also for aggressive presets for fast time trials too. What I could see working is some sort of repository where everyone could upload a setup and mark it accordingly for car and track combo as safe/aggressive, quali/race, dry/wet, temp range etc for easy filtering and community could test and verify by voting for each setup. I'm sure there's a lot of people that would find this beneficial and would contribute to it, and given that it's a fairly large community (and a very knowledgeable one too) it certainly can happen.
Actually it's P4 class (MCR S2000), Formula Trainer or Caterhams that are used most amongst others. Not quite on the GT3 hypewagon I don't quite see the relevance to the topic though?
its a nice approach, but multiply 106 tracks * 102 cars * 2 flavours * 2 session types * 2 weathers * 3 temperatures * 3 driver categories and you get about 780000 options. That IS much
Totally agree that to make it complete it's a humonguous task, but: It doesn't have to contain every single permutation - surely if majority of most used combinations is covered it's good enough. It doesn't have to be populated on day 1 It shouldn't be treated like a chore "Geez, 779998 setups left to do" but more like "Hey, I have a setup that works - I'll upload it" and the numbers will rapidly grow, obviously mostly around those popular combinations - where are most likely most needed anyway. It can be rolled out as Early Access. And now imagine this being integrated with the core game so setups can be downloaded from game... Anyway - food for thought for @Renato Simioni
I just recently restarted my YT channel and am posting GT3 setups. I noticed a lot of ppl having issues with defaults.
There aren't much cars i drive with the Default setup, but it only needs a few clicks to setup the car to my liking. multiple setups don't guaranty a usable/likeable setup. The only problem i have with the default setups are the Multiplayer lobbies forcing me to use them.
I’m jumping in to ask about weather/season setups as mentioned earlier. Is this possible and if so where do I make the changes? I haven’t been able to change the date at all.
Oh I leave those lobbies. Trying to have good race with tires that are 20c overcooked after 3 laps against people that don’t know the difference? No thanks.
OK thanks for this information. Because if that is correct(and I guess it is ) then I dont need to feel guilty because I very seldom use the MP feature. I can remember from iRacing that because of the pressure from people who refused to learn even the most simple tricks to tweak default setups - then more and more races forced the mandatory use of socalled fixed setups. The result of such widespread laziness is that some kind of forced lowest common denominator does rule all default setup races - and as was/is seen in iRacing arguments pro individual setups was seen as elitist and something only autistic nerds was interested in. ByTheWay: @SaxOhare I have revealed that some of your LB setups was/is complete copies of some of my very best LB setup creations. Dooh my good man
