Get a different FFB and Brakes by Deleting Profile?

    Hi All,

Has anyone else had the same experience or am I imagining this???

After watching a few YouTube videos and a weekend long testing of this game (10+ hours) I decided to delete the "Automobilista 2" folder in "Documents" effectively starting the set-up again.

I set everything up identical to before, from visuals, damage, wheel configuration, Force-feedback settings, everything... I calibrated everything the same way as I have done a few times over the weekend etc.

I can honestly say there seems to be a difference for the better.

There are much less "jarring spikes" when driving over kerbs, there is a bit more feel of under/over-steer and I am definitely not locking up my brakes and actually applying more pressure (I have a load cell).

I have also notices that I am "damaging" the V10 through bad driving (blowing engine, alignment issues etc.) a lot more than before - and I did a lot of bad driving over the weekend.

All the differences I am describing are subtle but I believe them to be true.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience?

    Please note:
I installed the game on Thursday, set it up on Friday, received the update to 0.8.0.1 on Saturday, then performed the most of my testing - I changed a number of settings during that time and "reset to default" the Wheel and re-calibrated but only tonight (Tuesday) did I remove my profile and started again.

Please back up your data before deleting anything :)

    Cheeky x.

that can be. AMS2 is in a hot development phase, so a new release can have other defaults than that before. Deleting the profile set that new defaults, just clicking "set default" could trigger a routine, that does not do the same or takes values that are not updated in the code.

A few people have reported that deleting their profiles after the most recent patch did improve their controller responses, so yep, you're not the only one. I suppose perhaps the "bad" settings from before the patch weren't being overwritten properly or something.

I did delete my my AMS2 folder in documents and set up everything the same way again today. Its really different now. Suddenly I have music in the menus, the FFB is much better much more detail and I think the graphics also are slightly better! Amazing.

Can confirm, deleted all contents from my documents apart from my screenshots, reset all the settings again after I booted up and all of a sudden; menu music, on screen warnings I didn't have before and the FFB feeling slightly different although that might be placebo, but I did a before- after with the same combo. So yes if you didn't do that so far, your game is compromised.

Definitely good advice, thanks for the heads up @Cheekymunkey78

People are lazy tho, myself included so I bet 75% of our community hasn't bothered to do that so far.

I want to try this but am kinda new to this side of things. Do I delete the whole folder where it lists all of my games in documents or do I have to dig in a little deeper? Also, delete everything inside and leave the folder or delete the folder too?

Sorry for the newb questions! Thanks

Automobilsta 2 folder only, delete everything in there apart from screenshots. Make sure you make screenies or pics on your mobile phone ingame first off all your options, so you can easily put everything back as it will delete all those settings you configured.

Okay, so just leave a completely empty Automobilista 2 folder (apart from screenshots if I have any)? Sorry if I seem like a fool but this is new to me :p

    thanks

Yup, and after you start up the game again then it will automatically re-populate with fresh files/folders.

Watt bothers me is that Reiza mentioned on here that it would only be necessary to do this if they say so. Well i did it anyway and it made a big improvement.

During PC2 development we would frequently delete the profile, sometimes daily for each new build, sometimes at least once a week. Basically if something doesn't feel right it's probably the first thing to do, then you can try to get to the bottom of it more accurately. If you set up a desktop shortcut to the file location (it was usually just the default.sav that needed deleting) you can delete and set up the sim again within a few minutes, and you tend to remember what your settings are when you do it daily.

Might be good if the devs stated that in their changelog information.

...and I did, and it felt slightly better.
But still no information about any understeer in any car...

I did delete my files too, and then set my car as I had before and nope! no difference. At the moment I have great ffb, but very little to none feel of understeer. I can hear the car losing grip and in some cases feel it very lightly I think but nope. Under braking and accelerating yes, great ffb.

Cars like the V8 and Stockcar Brazil I have only sound when it comes to scrubbing tires sideways/understeering. I was on 60,50,40 now I cranked up my fx all the way up to 70 and still no difference, I do feel the road more thou. I also deleted my new settings and restore the old one since that was no apparent difference.
