Do you mean while in motion? There is a free cam in photo mode, or is it still locked to the vicinity of a car? I haven't played with it much yet.

There is a kind of freecam mode in external view for example, but with car as center, not complete free.
Press CTRL+K one or two times and use the numbers on the Numblock.
There is a faster and a slower camera moving mode.
Press CTRL+K till you have the slower one.
Now use Num 8 for example. If the car is moving the cam is maybe resetting, then press Num 5 for manual reset and use Num 8 again.
Now the cam should stay at its position.

Next to the Num keys you can also use W, A, S, D and I think Q, E

I think CTRL+K+K is it only the very first time you use it.
Ctrl+K for the fast cam moving mode.
And CTRL+K a second time for the slower mode, we want.
But if I end the game in this slower mode and start it again, then it is already in the faster mode in my case.
And then I have to use CTRL+K one time only.

Usually to set the driving view ctrl-k once is enough. First ctrl-k gives you up-down-front-back and side to side (Q/E). The game doesn't remember your settings though, so you have to reset it every time you need to, but it doesn't take long. Ctrl-k a second time gives some more free cam moves, then ctrl-k again takes you back to default where you just get the single click seat movements. [ ] keys for setting FoV only works in the 'normal' mode, but you can set FoV from the pause menu whilst in ctrl-k.
It's a bit confusing at first but it becomes pretty quick and easy for those who prefer a slightly more custom view. There is capacity within the madness engine to save views, but it wasn't implemented in PC2.
There are lots of other hidden dev shortcuts as you'd expect, such as a mouse steered helicopter type cam where you can fly all over the track at any height, in game fps counter, every bit of physics telemetry possible, there's even a stock of canned FFB effects like in RRE or AC, but they aren't used as all the FFB comes from the physics.

I think this has to be unlocked at Reiza's end, but it exists within the game engine. If the free cam was available, people would fly over where the track mesh ends and say how bad the devs are and how much they ruined our life.

That's nonsense, the game world obviously has an end, but I understand people are crazy.
I really wish they enable this for the client version. So many people could create great content with it.

The free cam in the showroom has many limiting places where the camera is often stuck! Kind of frustrating to use.

I just with there was a way to custom alter any onboard view(live or for the replays), and for it to be automatically saved per car, like how it it currently is with the cockpit seating and mirror adjustment positions.
I would love to recreate some classic real-world 80s & 90s onboard shots from the F-Classic and F-USA cars!

There is a way, ctrl + k two times, and movement is enabled, but it's not saved, it's only for the session.
    WASD for translation
    Numpad 2 4 6 8 for rotation (5 resets the rotation)
Mouse click and drag for rotation
Y and H for up and down.

    * It doesn't work with any view.

Hey big, big thanks for these instructions. It's easy to move the cameras now that I know how to do it. Hopefully Reiza can look into this part of the Madness Engine code, and make it as simple as moving the cockpit seat position too, and make it be able to save them too!
