Achieving partial braking is very difficult in this game. For example in project cars 2 I can easily modulate braking with fair accuracy. In AMS2 it's a very short distance of pedal press to get to 100%. I use t3pa pedals without the conical mod. Any ideas if this is just inherent to the game or if there's something I can do. I find myself adjusting braking pressure in car set up to prevent lock ups as it's so difficult to get low braking forces.
You need to add the rubber mod to get a better feeling for the pressure required to get full brakes. You can build more reliable muscle memory around pressure than you can movement.
Check in the telemetry HUD that the brake pedal is calibrated properly. To access the telemetry HUD make sure a button is mapped to cycle the HUD and then when on track change to the telemetry HUD and your pedal values will be displayed bottom right. Check that the brake doesn't reach 100% until you have fully pressed the brake. If it hits 100% before that then you need to re-calibrate. The T3PAs suffer from noisy potentiometers so they can calibrate badly. If the calibration is correct and the brake bar in the telemetry HUD smoothly moves relative to your brake input then try changing the brake sensitivity to see if that helps. As Cliff says, the rubber mod can help if you have that too.
I've had to reduce brake sensitivity to 0 for my load cell. Works great now although prior to this patch it worked fine at 50.
Thanks guys, ive recalibrated the pedals and I'm getting full range from brake now..perfectly fine.. Not sure whether to add the conical stopper though? Anyone with t3pa's who have an opinion?
Thanks, do you think I can get away without mounting the pedals as at moment they're just sitting on carpet? Concerned extra pressure will move the unit . What do you reckon?
When I had my T3PAs I found they did need to be better secured when using the rubber cone mod. Up against something solid will stop them moving, but they also may lift at the front if you press too hard.
I used them on the floor, but you have to put something in the back to stop the movement. I have the pedal set fixed on a stand now, and it's much better. About the conical mod itself, I used it from the begining so I don't know how the T3PA feels wwithout it, but it feels a lot better than my previous Logitech pedals without any rubber mod. It's more natural in the sense you can feel a stop and you can train some sort of muscle memory by pressure, not only pedal travel. In my opinion, if you can't afford a load cell brake pedal kit, the rubber stop is the second best option you can use.
