I know that in RL, with a racing helmet and earplugs/monitor, the sounds are muffed (even more than in AMS2, depending on your gear)... but in a game (even a simulator) it's kinda annoying and is inciting a lot of criticism about AMS2.

Can you, just for the fun sake, can give us an option to use in 1st person view some more clean/bright sounds, like on the external cameras. Don't need to sound like external cameras, just don't be that much muffed.

    Cheers!

    It is? Where?

Regardless, the sound is not muffled at all. You have two first-person views, cockpit and helmet. In cockpit the sounds are loud and clear. In helmet, they're slightly muffled for the sake of realism, to semi-simulate the helmet. Make sure you're in cockpit view.

Edit: If the helmet cam isn't your issue, how about you just ignore my post instead of disliking it? Jeez. Just isn't worth trying to help some people.

Absolutely agree on this, I was going to make the suggestion myself; if there was just a bit more of the external sound in the interior mix it would be a big improvement. As you say through a helmet it would be muffled, but ACC has shown that by exaggerating the sounds rather than being completely realistic, it has a really good payoff in terms of gameplay. The sound has great power to make you feel like you are going fast, and an enveloping soundscape in the cockpit is something often overlooked in sims. Who cares if all those squeaks and rattles aren't 100% authentic, we have so much sensory input removed in a race sim, we need to fill the gaps with tricks.
FFB in a sim feels nothing like a real car, but it expertly makes up for the lack of movement sensation and G-forces and gives an important impression of what the car is doing, sound can do just the same.

    That is exactly my point.

There is a concept called Simulation Bubble, that was explained on the instruction manual of FALCON 4.0 (the hardest core a home simulation can be). They say exactly it (and a lot of other stuff)... how to manage the flow of information to player and how to considerate that some information (ex: sounds and ffb) can be amplified to compensate for everything you don't fell.

The external cameras are already good on sound department and need only some work over the FMOD. But the overall sounds can be improved.

Personally, I don't feel the sounds are muffled at all in the regular cockpit view. I'm guessing the helmet cam wasn't your issue since you "disliked" my post. I also hope that Reiza don't start messing with artificial sounds and volumes. This is a sim, so I want simulation not Hollywood.

I have mentioned it in the beta forum, my issue is the sound is muffled in Vr, nowhere near as raw as it should be. It is being looked in to, so fingers crossed.

Are you using the reverb headphones @John Hargreaves ? If so when you're driving, hit instant replay and see if the engine sounds different.
For me it's way better, just curious to see if you have the same result.

Would also like to have the option to set sound clarity independently of camera.

What are your thoughts on ACC and RRE?
