On the PC2 steering clip, the guy has clarified that the on-screen wheel doesn't match his real wheel.

But physics in game obeys to the virtual steering wheel...

Ofc it doesn't match what he's doing irl, but it's an abuse of the tyre model that shouldn't be possible, look how the car re grips back up as the steering goes way too far ingame.

Can someone test it in AMS2?

I hope Reiza does address it (if possible) but I don't think they have just yet:

    Replays-drivers going nuts?

Not in replay mode. The original video seems to be taken from a replay as there is no hud while when he shows his real wheel he is using a hud. Its not too hard to confirm. I just adjusted my T300 to 300 degrees (from default 900) in the thrustmaster control panel and did not recalibrate in PC2. Drive a short distance in game and move the on-screen wheel by either 90 degrees or 180 degrees. Then watch the replay. You should find the on-screen wheel moves much further in the replay.

Yeah i agree you obviously have peak grip and then slip, which is the point you should be trying to balance the car to carry most speed possible.
Which AMS2 does really well, but in AC/ACC there is no slip it's just grip or gone, no load/slip peak just falls off completely, that's the point i was trying to get across to the other guy, but also if you turn the wheel past a certain degree the car doesn't just start sliding automatically, it's the speed/weight transfer that causes most effects.

You should take a better look...

In the second video both virtual and real wheel are shown in game and the virtual one is still amplified.
While in game, virtual wheel is certainly linked to physics.
    So...

    P.S.
Running Pcars2 (sacrifice for science) on my rig, no matter the settings in profiler, virtual wheel looks exactly the same both in game and in replays.

The in-game wheel is just an animation. While it's cued off physics, it's not directly tied to physics. The animators have to create the wheel and driver animations. If they create an animation that only works for 360 degrees but the car's physics allow for 720, it doesn't stop the car from using 720 because the animation doesn't support it.

So, if you disable the virtual wheel, you have no physics?

No, but it is a good way to hide how bad it is... :D

I wasn't talking about in-game but in replay. The video that sparked all this ridiculous hysteria was a replay.

In game capture (wheel not correctly calibrated)

    Replay capture

The in-game steering wheel movement is clearly much exaggerated in the replay.

    I can’t follow your logic...

If the virtual steering of that guy is doubling the real one ALSO in game, the most plausible conclusion is that in his specific case (like in mine) replay and in game are matching.

That said I find absurd we still need to discuss if Pcars2 physics calibration is awful...

What do you actually mean by "physics calibration"? Do you mean how the steering wheel acts on screen compared to what's actually happening in the physics calculations?

I thought this thread initially was going down the road of AC vs AMS2 in a way.

Glad to check in now and see it has evolved into visual steering representation in PC2 hahah!

I mean that, no matter what, Pcars2 physics are so bad they don’t deserve to be discussed.

I used the word ‘calibration’ because I don’t think the physics engine is flawed, but just that no one had enough time or knowledge or both to put the right numbers into it.
