A more recent example of specular AA including support for deferred shading:

I hope they do something about the flickering.

After a lot of testing with my RTX 2060 the following give me the best visuals:
    SMAA Ultra
    SS High
    Texture high (ultra CTD)

    Graphics xml Documents\Automobilista 2\graphicsconfigoculusdx11.xml & graphicsconfigdx11.xml
    SS 0.5
    SC 0.05
    OB 1.0

Shadows don't pop, are smooth, and jaggies minimised.

MSAA high just results in shadow/line jaggies, and shadow popping. Try Bathurst on the first straight. Horrible popping flickering shadows. I just can't get decent visuals with MSAA and have latest NVidia drivers. I don't understand why so many people recommend it.

FXAA is a little blurrier than SMAA.

I'll test your AA settings but first where is this found? Is this for VR only?
Have you tried night time? What do you see on the rear of cars when your headlights light them up? Try a P2 or 3 series to test.

Are you saying Ultra textures gave you CTD ? The highest texture setting in game is High !!??
Also what resolution and frame rate are you getting with your AA settings

Those 3 settings work for normal mode as well, not just VR. Unless something changed drasticly from PC2.

Are you saying the Graphics ini:
    SS 0.5
    SC 0.05
    OB 1.0
settings work in monitor mode ? Because i was under the impression they where introduced back in pC2 days for VR blur from the low resolution screens ! The highly requested sharpening filter !

    Yes, that's why I added them both above graphicsconfigoculusdx11.xml & graphicsconfigdx11.xml

    I'm using it in both.

Okay , thanks, what resolution do you run and what FPS are you happy to race with ? I tried just your AA settings with my 1080ti at 5760x1080 and it tanks fps down to high 30's at places !

I'm running a 2070 Super. I've tried using the various suggestions in this thread, namely SS High, PS SMAA Ultra. The dancing jaggies on the fences bother my eyes. When I go back to MSAA High instead the game might look a tiny bit softer but the jaggies are gone and the frame rate is around 120fps. I think I'm just gonna stick with MSAA. It still looks a million times better than PC2 and AC on my Xbox One X.

The night time shimmering on opponent vehicles simple put is bad and the AA is not far behind it.. During the day it's fine. I am running high/ultra settings with 4K DSR.. Hopefully there is some room for improvement here..

Fully agree and the fact that even at 4k it looks bad is really sad as having the 24 hour cycle with all kinds of weather was a big factor in Reiza moving to the Madness engine .
There is a glimmer of hope , post #32 of this thread says they have noticed and have worked on another option .

@2ndLastJedi - I wonder if they will go down the TAA route. I hope not as it's can be blurry and prone to ghosting issues..

I actually find ACC to look really nice even at my lowly 1080p (5760x1080) resolution with a little sharpening and TAA at Epic , far FAR better than AMS 2 at night but during the day yeah AMS 2 looks cleaner but not enough to make me rather MSAA over TAA but any more options will make us all happy .

It has got better since EA and especially if you push the screen percentage and the nVidia sharpening filter works nice too.. Ghosting is still there though, although I am ok with it..

I'm starting to think that including TAA could be a very good alternate setting that much people would appreciate. As long as they keep the other settings in (FXAA, SMAA, MSAA, SS)

Your right. I should clarify my statement. No issues with TAA if MSAA is kept..
