I am trying to get some good racing going against the AI on the Nordschleife in the GT3s I have AI skill set to 120, and aggression to 100. I have noticed that sometimes the AI is very slow, lapping around 7:00, while I am around 6:45. Sometimes though, the AI speeds up, one race for example they were lapping around 6:43. These were both with the AI skill set to 120! Does the AI change speed based on my driving? Please someone explain how this works. It is very frustrating since the AI seems to change lap times race to race even with the same skill setting. I usually don't do qualifying for races against AI, do I have to qualify for them to "set" their speeds? So confusing, someone please explain. I have a feeling the AI speed is set by more than just the skill setting. It feels like there's some other logic going on behind the scenes, like AI race pace = skill * X What is the X?
I’ve seen this as well. Im not sure if its inconsistency or if a non-qualified grid order sometimes puts a critical mass of slower cars up front.
Update: As of 1.0.6.0 released today, the GT3s when skill is set to 120 and aggression to 100, generally lap around 6:48 on the Nordschleife which is better than it was before. AI has improved and there have been numerous other changes to AI that have made substantial improvements. Thanks Reiza. Will continue testing this out. Also new BMW GT3 sounds amazing. Drowns out my car's engine sound when racing beside them. Totally awesome.
Did a bit more testing and the best the AI can do around the Nordschleife in the GT3s is 6:48. I can do 6:45s and I'm not a pro by any means. This is with skill at 120 and aggression at 100. AI is better but definitely needs to be faster around here.
Ok, so after update V1.0.6.1, the AI around the Norscheife at skill level 120 is really fast. AI was doing 6:32 laps which is now way faster than I can do. Had to dial back the skill level which is great, I can finally get some competitive racing in with the AI. I think I read this update decreased the GT3 AI rolling resistance and they definitely are faster down the main straight. Great update!
Just did a single player GT3 race on the Nordschleife and wow what an improvement to the AI. A couple of things I noticed not having raced here against AI for a while: 1) The AI skill seems to have been greatly improved. Now I find AI skill set to 100 to be very competitive 2) The AI racing line/braking points have been greatly improved. They are racing basically how I would expect them to drive. No weird early braking like they used to 3) The AI programming is much better when it comes to passing now. If I pass a car, it will not fall far behind and will usually catch up to me in a few minutes and attempt to pass. I had a Porsche riding my bumper for a few minutes straight, looking for a spot to pass me. Very impressive stuff. I still would like the P3 class to get the same treatment (especially at Brands Hatch). But I wanted to come back to this thread and give an update and also let Reiza know that they have done a great job so far.
