I have a confession to make.

Today I spend a couple of hours playing AMS2. Glad I could find some time as I do not have much free time the last couple of months.
Anyway, I was switching cams during a race and somehow It wouldn’t switch back to the cockpit cam. It was locked on the chase cam. So I had to finish the race with this cam selected. I normally never have this cam selected because I suck using this cam and I do really like the cockpit cam (logical because I have a triple setup). That said, I had a really enjoyable time with the chase cam, first of all the sound of the cars is really awesome when using this cam, secondly the feel of speed. And to be honest, I drove a lot faster as well. Lol, I always said, no chase cam for me, this has nothing to do with a simulator. I always found it ok for arcade race games. But hey, what the heck, the most important part is that you enjoy gaming.
Well that was my confession. Although I still like the cockpit cam of course, I never thought I would have such a great time with the chase cam. Thanks Reiza for making such a wonderful race game.

ps: one thing about the chase cam. A big drawback is that you can’t see the rear-end of the car in front of you. It is hard to judge how close your bumper is to the rear of the car in front of you. Other than that…. Just a lot of fun.

 

Yeah, sounds are definitely always better in chase cam. Anyway, you paid for the game, play it any way you want so long as you enjoy it, like you say, just a lot of fun.

 

Even just the replay cockpit cam is cleaner than the in game cockpit cam audio! It is missing some ques like ripple strip rumble but the engine, back fires and NO static pops just make the replay audio nicer than the in game audio. I wish we could force replay audio to race with if Reiza could just add the missing sounds.

 

I like bonnet cam and virtual mirrors on as example...

Asking myself why sim developers didn't give users the option to move virtual mirrors on triple setup, ideally I would race with bonnet cam and mirrors on left and right monitors pretending bezels are the windshield supports lol

 

yes indeed bonnet cam is fun too but as you mentioned. No option for personal mirror preferences.

 

I'd love it if you could use a smartphone (or two) to display the virtual mirror like you can for a dash display

 

I really think that Reiza should rethink the cockpit cam's sound mix. In real racing cars, sounds got muffed because of auricular protectors (usually the in-ears monitors act as auricular protectors) and the helmet... but even that, the outside camera's sound are soo much enjoyable and maybe they could give us an option to have the actual more realistic mix or a more "stylish", closer to the outside cam.

 

Cockpit cam plus external sound mix might upset the realism police, but it would be great as an option for gameplay purposes

 

Yes. I really love the cockpit cam of course but the sound sounds a bit to muffled to my liking.

 

That's why it should be an option.

Anyway, the Realism Police will aways try to arrest AMS2... just pay the coopers and let's get back to our business lol
