"Force Manual Pitstops" needs to be renamed

When making a server in multiplayer, this setting in the server options NEEDS to be renamed. The text right now is misleading and has people believe that setting it to ON would mean they have to pit during the race.

It should rather be something like "Car control in pitlane = Automatic / By player".

 

Yeah this could probably use a re-wording, I see how Tom has gotten confused with it.

On that note, an option to force players to complete a compulsory pitstop would be a great addition.

To YOU it seemed. To many it didn't. No reason not to fix this by just renaming the option so that everyone would understand.

 

When you set a new lobby up you normally go through all the options and decide what to turn off or on. There's a mandatory pitstop option so the 'force manual pitstop' can't be that option.

I'd rather see the option fixed to have a timed race + mandatory pitstop, because for some reason it was greyed out if you chose a timed race.

 

How about instead of rather seeing one or the other fixed, BOTH things should be fixed ? There is objectively NO reason not to change the text into something that makes no sense.

I can see how it can be confusing if you don't know that there is an automated pitstop mode in the game where the car drives out and into the pits automatically. I don't know which one is on by default but I'd like to see the manual pitstop option to be the default option, so maybe the text in the lobby options should say 'force automated pitstops'

I'm all for more clear descriptions of the options we have. All I'm saying is that if you see a 'mandatory pitstop' option there shouldn't be any confusion about which one is which.

 

Automated pitstop should be removed from the game imho. It is one of the arcade settings that have no reason to exist.

It is different from automatic gears, for example. Auto gear is arcade, but acceptable, given that there are many drivers who do not own a steering wheel and use console controllers.

But auto pitstop? What is it good for?

Autopit option means there's no consistency online.
Join a lobby and get ready to drive out the pits or be chauffeured out the pit ...you never know what you'll get.

As much as I hate it, I rather there be one option and I know what to expect.

Also if 60mph is too much work to maintain for a short distance then i wonder what you.do when there's a double yellow course?

 

Fully agree, it is one of the most pointless settings that have no place in a racing sim.

 

just shorten the name to "maunual pit stops" on or off

 

or use "FORCE MANUAL PITSTOPS" YES or NO
Because that is what is done it forces the pitstop to be manual or don't force it
It overrules the "MANUAL PITSTOP" setting in the Gameplay-Authenticity menu

 

Simple:

PITLANE: Manual / Auto (as in how we drive!!!) obvs
& shown as such in sever /lobby settings

 

This would be PITLANE: Manual / Players-Choice

Because it isn't a Manual Pitstop on/off choice, If "FORCE MANUAL PITSTOP" is set to yes, The setting overrides the personal setting in the Gameplay-Authenticity menu, If a player set this to "Manual Pitstop" = No.
The host can override this and Force a Yes.
If the setting is set to No, the choice is left to the player joining the race.the player can choose yes or no

 

For those disagreeing, what are auto pitstops actually good for? I sincerely cannot find out any legitimate use for it.

 

There doesn't exist a good reason for auto pitstops. And nobody will be able to come up with a good reason. If the option was completely removed and forced to manual control, then nothing would have been lost.

 

No, don't use that, because it makes NO SENSE to have it writen like that. And you writing it a second time does not suddenly improve it either.
