Hello everyone, I want to ask you something about the nVidia DSR Factors Let’s say, I test it with RTX 4090 on 4k resolution If I enable 4x in the DSR Factors ( in menu game, as well, 7680 x 4320 ) which is 8k Is this test, real ? Does it simulate 7680 x 4320 pixels ? I asked, because, right now I play at 4k ( 55 inches ) RTX 3090 I ordered the RTX 4090 ( Gigabyte, OC ) but I do not want to purchase the 65 inches 8k, before I have an idea about the RTX 4090 performance at 8k. When I get the 4090, I’ll try all my games, with the 4k display I have right now ( sim racing and flight simulators, only ) with the DSR Factors 4x If I get 30 fps, average, I’m okay with that. Any advices are welcome, thank you
don't bother, the human eye can't perceive 8k definition, I think even 4k is a bit beyond it's capability. You're eyes would thank you for improving the fps rate far more.
So the human eye cant see the clarity difference going from 4k at 55" to 8k at 65"? So going from a PPI of 80 (basically a 27" 1080p screen) to a PPI of 135 (basically a 3440x1440 27" screen). I agree fully about the higher framerate being more important but still the human eye 8k thing makes me laugh.
Can I just say that your maths look a bit out. If you're getting 80PPI at 1080, that is giving you a vertical height of 13.5" 1440 / 13.5 comes out to 105 PPI. I think the viewing distance is much more of a factor. In my day job I run a 8x16 foot projector screen with a 1080 projector which gives a PPI of 11.25 but as it's viewed from 30 feet the image look nice and crisp. Also the sharpness will only be apparent where there are very distinct and still edges, like gauges with no shake. As soon as things are moving or there is any blurring due to motion, atmospheric conditions or DOF, the extra sharpness to the edges will be lost.
I think it is a DSR factor of 2 to simulate 8K, but yes it should be representative of the performance at 8K. I would not be surprised you can get close to 60 fps at 8K with the 4090.
Sorry, I hadn't picked up that your two example monitor sizes were such different aspect ratios, that of course make the vertical size of the 3440x1440 3" smaller.
I was just giving examples of PPI that people can and most probably have seen, to say that you can't see the difference between that 1440p screen and the 1080p screen is a bit crazy to me and that is pretty much what was stated by not being able to see 8k.
